Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a company seeking a Project Engineer to support the execution of structural steel and related building scopes for mission-critical infrastructure projects, including large-scale data center developments.
This role is responsible for coordinating technical deliverables, tracking project progress, and ensuring alignment between engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction activities. The Project Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining accuracy, consistency, and flow across all project phases in fast-paced, high-performance environments.
This position begins with a strong focus on structural steel execution and is structured to expand into broader, multi-discipline responsibilities over time, providing a clear pathway for professional growth into project management and program leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a comprehensive document control system to ensure all drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and revisions are current and properly distributed for design, fabrication, and field execution.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with cost estimating for structural steel components, materials, and labor to support bids, budgets, and change orders.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues during design development, fabrication, erection, and commissioning phases.
- Support project scheduling by analyzing critical path activities, dependencies, and resource requirements to help maintain aggressive hyperscale delivery timelines.
- Prepare technical documentation including submittals, shop drawing packages, as-built documentation, and project reports in accordance with quality and compliance standards.
- Track project progress and assist in identifying risks, delays, and coordination issues, providing solutions to maintain schedule and budget alignment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by researching and implementing tools, processes, and technologies that enhance steel engineering and construction execution.
- Assist in coordination between engineering, procurement, fabrication, and field teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience supporting structural steel projects in industrial or data center environments.
- Strong understanding of structural steel detailing, fabrication, erection, and building systems.
- Experience with document control, RFIs, submittals, quantity takeoffs, and change management processes.
- Familiarity with scheduling tools, BIM workflows, and construction/project management software (Primavera P6, Procore, or similar).
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Eagerness and ability to grow into broader project and technical leadership responsibilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support resolution of issues across design, fabrication, and construction phases
- High attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation and coordination activities
