About This Position

Position: Nurse Practitioner PART TIME

Supervised By: Medical Director

Position Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for carrying out the physician’s orders regarding administration of medications. This individual is also responsible for the completeness of all medical aspects of the medical record – including any paper documentation and all entries into the electronic health record system.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure that appropriate laboratory studies have been performed and reviewed, as needed.
  • Ensure that a medical evaluation, including a medical history and physical examination, has been performed at admission.
  • Presents medical forms for the physician’s evaluation, consultation, and signature.
  • Ensure that evidence of current physiologic dependence, length of history addiction, or exceptions to criteria for admission are documented in the client’s record before receiving the initial medication.
  • Collaborates with clinical and other medical providers.
  • Assists clients in referral services for other medical issues/needs.
  • Continuous quality improvement and coordinates care with clinical and medical staff.
  • Ensures compliance with State Regulations, CARF and HIPAA Standards.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 1 year as NP in addiction treatment facility.
  • Current DEA license

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of Nurse Practitioner program specific to specialty of detox.
  • Licensed in the state of Missouri as NP.

Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires considerable physical effort most of the day. Requires squatting, kneeling, reaching, twisting, walking, lifting supplies (up to 50 lbs) and sitting for long periods of time. Mental Requirements: Must be able to make sound judgment based on assessment and data available and act accordingly. Must be able to be flexible, innovative, and work independently. Must possess skills for computer usage and written and oral communication. Must possess good interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize multiple functions or tasks; and must have tolerance for unpredictable circumstances and usual stress of coping with the human nature of staff and patients.
