Position overview

The role of the Senior Financial Analyst is to support all aspects of operational decision making by providing timely and accurate analysis of financial and non-financial data to operational business unit managers and executive team members. This is accomplished through regularly scheduled delivery of periodic financial and ad hoc analysis based on business needs. The Senior Financial Analyst will learn the operational needs of the business and apply their unique financial and technical perspective to delivering insight about the results of operations and assist in developing business plans, budgets and forecasts that support the goals of the business.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Directs the annual company-wide budgeting process
  • Directs periodic forecasting
  • Develops and performs regular monthly analysis and engages Accounting to assist with or take ownership of regular analysis where it makes sense
  • Collaborate with IT to gain access to data needed for analysis and develop methodologies to capture data needed for the analysis needs of the business by participating in developing the policies and procedures required to capture and collect such data
  • Applies analytic procedures to support better management decision making, improve processes, cut costs, and increase revenues
  • Interface with senior team leaders, understand business needs, and develop and communicate solutions
  • Supports Accounting's use of Vena, our primary FP&A and Month End Close tool
  • Leads the development of new financial reporting and support Accounting in maintaining that reporting thereafter
  • Participates with the Business Intelligence team to model data required for reporting and analytics
  • Potential supervisory responsibility over other junior analysts
  • Serves as a trusted go to advisor of the business and holds their self to the highest ethical and professional standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • The ability to problem solve, communicate clearly, manage quality, and improve processes
  • Proficient financial storytelling ability is required
  • Experience with one or more FP&A platforms is desirable
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting to accomplish the goals and objectives of a given project
  • Experience with PowerBI or Vena a plus
  • Strong MS Excel and MS Office skills
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Analytical thinker with an ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems
  • High degree of technological acumen and be comfortable working with and manipulating large amounts of data
  • Strong presence with the ability to interact with Senior Leadership
  • Knowledge of database and data warehouse structures, data extraction and transformation methods
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and be excited about solving problems

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
  • 4-7 years’ experience in financial analysis including budgeting, planning, forecasting, modeling, financial reporting and data analysis

Work Environment

  • REMOTE work environment
  • Extends working hours into evenings and weekends during seasonal busy times
  • Spends time in a climate-controlled office setting looking a computer screens and keyboarding
  • Travel occasionally required to corporate office, about 10%

Continuing education delivery methods include live seminars, webinars, on demand webinars, self-study courses, professional and user conferences as well as other approved opportunities.

The continuing education expectation for this position is 40 hours per year.
