This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Account Director I based in Canada.
This role is focused on growing and retaining a portfolio of commercial accounts through strategic expansion and disciplined renewal management. You will own expansion revenue targets, renewal performance and account growth while identifying opportunities to increase multi-product adoption and customer value. The position involves navigating complex, multi-stakeholder buying groups and managing meaningful commercial negotiations. You will build structured account plans, maintain accurate forecasts and proactively address risks that could affect retention. Working cross-functionally with customer experience, product and solutions teams, you will align account strategies with broader customer and business objectives. You will manage assigned commercial accounts with responsibility for expansion, renewals, retention and revenue growth. Key responsibilities include:
- Own and deliver expansion ARR targets and renewal performance across an assigned portfolio of commercial accounts.
- Develop and execute structured account plans focused on multi-product adoption, account growth and increased share of customer spend.
- Lead complex discovery and expansion conversations involving multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Develop and execute disciplined renewal strategies to maximize retention and minimize commercial risk.
- Manage larger deal sizes and moderately complex sales cycles from discovery through negotiation and close.
- Maintain accurate revenue forecasts and demonstrate strong pipeline inspection and management discipline.
- Partner with Customer Experience, Product and Solutions teams to align expansion strategies with customer needs and business priorities.
- Identify commercial risk signals and proactively develop mitigation strategies to protect renewal opportunities.
- Navigate competitive displacement situations, pricing discussions and commercial negotiations.
- Ensure effective and accurate commercial handoffs when account responsibilities or roles transition.
- Use independent judgment to address complex account challenges and identify opportunities for long-term growth.
- Contribute to improved commercial processes, practices and standards.
- Support broader business priorities and take on additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings significant experience managing commercial account portfolios and driving both expansion and renewal growth. You should combine strong commercial judgment with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, negotiate effectively and work independently toward long-term revenue objectives.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial account portfolios with ARR responsibility.
- Proven ability to drive expansion and renewal growth across multi-stakeholder customer environments.
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial strategy expertise.
- Experience using structured sales methodologies.
- Experience managing multi-product portfolios and identifying cross-sell or expansion opportunities.
- Experience navigating competitive displacement and pricing negotiations.
- Experience supporting commercial or mid-market customer segments.
- Strong ability to develop account strategies and execute against long-range revenue objectives.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment and manage complex or challenging commercial situations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Customer Experience, Product and Solutions.
- University degree preferred.
