Lollypop Farm is in search of a full-time, Veterinary Assistant. The Vet Assistant’s role is to assist the veterinarians and technicians by facilitating the effective and efficient operation of the Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic for animal treatment and surgery.

Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday (4-10s).

Essential Job Duties:

  • Restrain animals for examination and induction of anesthesia
  • Perform surgical preparation, animal recovery from anesthesia, and provide post-operative care
  • Administer medications and vaccinations, excluding rabies
  • Record data entries for anesthesia, surgical procedures, processing, or any other patient documentation
  • Clean and repackage surgical instruments; operate autoclave
  • Ensure animals are fed and cages are clean
  • Ensure the Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic is clean and well stocked with supplies
  • Assist the Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic staff in the setup of surgery and fecal and urine samples
  • Communicate with prospective clients, fosters, rescues, and shelter staff
  • Provide excellent customer service while supporting the Lollypop Farm core values
  • Provide training to Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic volunteers
  • Occasionally may assist in public vaccine or wellness clinics
  • Obtain current patient history from foster parents or rescue groups at the time of the appointment
  • Maintain equipment in working order
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state and federal laws
  • Perform other duties as requested
Requirements:

Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent education. Animal experience is preferred. Experience with large dogs and animals of various temperaments preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position.

Skills: Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules and operating procedures. Ability to communicate routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with employees throughout the organization. Beginner experience with PC, ability to learn Shelterluv software. Autoclave, cleaning supplies and clippers skills preferred.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position during shift, move throughout the building and move weight up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to communicate with others. Occasionally required to move excessive weight.
