The environment is fast-paced, analytical, and highly collaborative, with opportunities to learn from experienced underwriting professionals while mentoring junior colleagues.

Accountabilities:
  • Assess and manage underwriting risk for group benefits plans, ensuring pricing and retention strategies support profitability and long-term portfolio sustainability.
  • Develop and maintain rates for new and existing corporate accounts, evaluating financial impact and adjusting structures as needed.
  • Prepare detailed quotations, proposals, and responses to client questionnaires for complex group insurance arrangements.
  • Manage client requests related to pricing, plan design changes, and contract modifications in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Negotiate financial terms, benefit structures, and service agreements while balancing client needs with organizational risk policies.
  • Support onboarding of new clients by building structured plan designs and ensuring alignment with internal administration capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to improve processes, enhance operational efficiency, and support overall business performance.
Requirements:
  • Fluency in English and French, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients across multiple Canadian regions.
  • Post-secondary education in business, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related analytical field.
  • Strong experience in group benefits underwriting, risk assessment, or group insurance product management.
  • Solid understanding of the group insurance market, including products, pricing structures, and plan design considerations.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables) and Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent business acumen with the ability to evaluate financial data and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills, with confidence influencing internal and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and decision-making discipline.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team structure.
  • CEBS or GBA certification is considered an asset.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range aligned with senior underwriting roles in Canada, with eligibility for performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, mental health, and life insurance coverage.
  • Retirement savings plans with employer contributions and financial wellness support programs.
  • Generous paid time off, including vacation, personal days, sick leave, and statutory holidays.
  • Flexible remote work arrangement across Canada.
  • Access to professional development, certification support, and career growth opportunities.
  • Inclusive and flexible work environment focused on well-being, learning, and long-term career development.
