The Opportunity
The Public Areas Assistant Manager will manage all housekeeping associates in the Public Areas, coordinates work assignments, ensures staff follows standard operating procedures, inspects work, and upholds Moonlight Basin’s core values and leads associates to do the same.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of the public spaces (Yurt, Lodge, Clubhouse, etc.)
- Execute and supervise periodic major cleaning projects and deep cleanings scheduled by the public area manager.
- Report concerns regarding housekeeping service and equipment to the Public Area Manager.
- Make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operations.
- Assist in controlling housekeeping expenses.
- Prioritize daily tasks.
- Attend to and resolve all guest/ member complaints, escalating issues as needed to the Public Area Manager.
- Manage staff, including recruiting, training, coaching, and disciplinary action as needed to create an exceptional team.
- Responsible for scheduling and time approval of associates.
- Maintain clear and efficient communications with the Public Area Manager daily and other departments as needed.
- Responsible for following and enforcing established standard operating procedures.
- Establish safe working conditions through appropriate job training.
- Provide support to other departments during special events.
- Assist in Housekeeping duties as needed including cleaning and resetting all guest areas and bathrooms, straightening furniture, dusting and vacuuming, emptying trash, etc.
- Being courteous and helpful to members and guests, including reporting any guest requests or preferences.
- Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner as outlined by supervisors.
- Performs additional duties as assigned that may be outside of the normal scope of duties based on business needs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Public Area Manager and other members of the management team.
Competencies
- Proficient in English reading, writing, and comprehension; additional language skills are a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, leadership, vendors, and members/guests.
- Good numerical and analytical skills, including the ability to assist with cost controls and manage par levels and inventory.
- Adept at handling complex interpersonal situations with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism, especially in high-pressure or guest-facing moments.
- Comfortably adapts to variable volume demands across winter and summer seasons, with strong planning and execution skills.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred (preferred)
- Knowledge of overall resort/ club operations. (preferred)
- Background in luxury resorts, private clubs, high-end restaurants, or similar environments with elevated service expectations.
- Self-starter; able to carry out diverse duties with minimal supervision.
- The ideal candidate will promote a positive image of the property by displaying a pleasant and upbeat personality during each guest interaction and be comfortable responding to and carrying out specific guest needs and requests.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, fluency in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and relate to people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in housekeeping within a luxury resort or club environment.
- Strong leadership abilities and organizational skills.
- Able to adapt quickly to business requirements.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products; Word and Outlook.
- Knowledge of housekeeping service techniques.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Able to work flexible hours, holidays, and weekends.
- Must comply with Moonlight Basin's Dress and Grooming policies.
- Ability to complete tasks in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful hospitality environment with unpredictable business levels.
- Flexible and committed to the needs of the operation, including working overtime, weekends, and holidays during peak periods.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred).

Physical Requirements
- Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8-10 hours in length.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Must be able to lift up to 15-40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks.
- Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment.
