Job Description

Primary Purpose

The Business Development Manager (BDM) reporting to the Division President, partners closely with the leadership team to drive new business development and revenue growth. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and advancing strategic opportunities while improving and managing business development processes to track progress and support informed decision-making.

The BDM focuses on revenue generation through new account acquisition and key account management within the data center construction market. This role has national responsibility for expanding market presence and delivering sustained growth in assigned segments.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities within the data center construction market
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and industry partners
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations, proposals, and value propositions
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align sales strategy with company vision and culture
  • Partner with project management teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activity to inform strategy
  • Drive new customer acquisition and expand existing accounts
  • Identify customer requirements and coordinate with preconstruction teams to develop solutions and proposals
  • Lead and collaborate with the Preconstruction teams to respond to RFPs and bid opportunities
  • Maintain a robust and accurate sales pipeline; regularly report progress against sales targets
  • Effectively manage CRM tools and participate in weekly pipeline and forecast reviews
  • Ensure a high level of customer service throughout the sales lifecycle


Minimum Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in the data center or mission-critical infrastructure industry
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure systems, including generators, HVAC, liquid cooling, medium and low voltage power, UPS systems and batteries.
  • 5+ years of consultative B2B sales experience with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • 5+ years of commercial construction sales experience
  • Established industry relationships within the data center ecosystem
  • Past participation in industry associations such as 7/24 Exchange, AFCOM, iMasons or similar.

Preferred Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)

Work Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in data center or mission-critical infrastructure sales
  • Advanced knowledge of critical infrastructure systems and technologies
  • Demonstrated success in large-scale or national account sales


Compensation

  • Constructiv is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary for this role is $120,000.00 - $170,000.00. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.


Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Travel up to 50% required. The employee may be required to visit construction sites with potential and current customers, resulting in wearing specific PPE as required, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks, and closed-toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
