Job Description
The Public Affairs Specialist will support Government public affairs, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, industry outreach, and digital communications activities for the DCMA Blue List Program. This position will provide advisory, communications, multimedia, event support, and administrative support to Government public affairs personnel.
The Public Affairs Specialist will assist with messaging, outreach materials, public engagement support, industry day coordination, conferences, workshops, demonstrations, digital content, presentations, newsletters, social media content, technical articles, publications, and leadership communication products.
This role will not perform inherently governmental functions, will not serve as an official Government spokesperson, and will not release official Government communications without Government approval. The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic communications, public affairs, multimedia production, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement experience in a DoD, federal, technology, defense, or mission-focused environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPublic Affairs & Strategic Communications Support- Support Government public affairs, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and industry outreach activities.
- Assist the Government in implementing strategic communications and public messaging supporting the Blue List Program.
- Develop outreach materials, digital communications, communication plans, and messaging products in support of Government public affairs objectives.
- Prepare written communications that translate program information into clear, professional, stakeholder-ready materials.
- Support communication strategies that improve stakeholder awareness, industry engagement, and program visibility.
- Maintain appropriate distinction between contractor support and official Government spokesperson responsibilities.
- Develop multimedia products in support of Government public affairs objectives.
- Produce or support professional photography, videography, graphic design, presentations, digital content, technical articles, program publications, correspondence, and social media content.
- Create communication materials using industry-standard software applications.
- Develop briefing graphics, presentation materials, fact sheets, newsletters, visual content, and other stakeholder-facing products.
- Ensure communication materials are accurate, professional, visually effective, and aligned with Government direction.
- Support formatting, editing, routing, version control, and quality review of communication products.
- Assist the Government in planning, coordinating, and supporting industry days, conferences, workshops, demonstrations, training events, public engagements, and other outreach activities.
- Support event planning, scheduling, logistics coordination, promotional materials, registration, and post-event communications.
- Coordinate with Government personnel, contractor teams, external stakeholders, industry participants, and event support personnel.
- Prepare event materials, talking points, agendas, registration materials, participant communications, signage, presentations, and follow-up products.
- Support post-event summaries, lessons learned, stakeholder engagement tracking, and outreach effectiveness reporting.
- Prepare briefing materials, talking points, speeches, presentation materials, fact sheets, newsletters, and other communication products for Government leadership.
- Support internal and external engagements by developing polished communication materials tailored to the audience.
- Coordinate with program leadership, public affairs personnel, technical SMEs, cybersecurity staff, acquisition personnel, and other stakeholders to collect inputs.
- Draft and refine content for executive reviews, stakeholder meetings, public affairs activities, and industry engagements.
- Maintain consistency, professionalism, and accuracy in leadership communication materials.
- Monitor communication metrics, public engagement activities, stakeholder participation, and outreach initiatives.
- Provide recommendations to improve the effectiveness of Government communication strategies and stakeholder engagement efforts.
- Track outreach actions, event participation, communication products, stakeholder engagement activities, and follow-up items.
- Support reporting on communications performance, digital engagement, event outcomes, and outreach effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve messaging, materials, coordination, digital content, and event support processes.
- Coordinate communications activities with Government public affairs personnel, program leadership, technical teams, external stakeholders, and contractor personnel.
- Support information sharing among Blue List Program stakeholders.
- Maintain professional communication with senior military and civilian leadership.
- Handle sensitive, proprietary, procurement-related, and Controlled Unclassified Information with discretion.
- Ensure all public-facing or official communication products are reviewed and approved by the Government before release.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field; or a minimum of five years of verifiable experience supporting public affairs, strategic communications, multimedia production, outreach, or related activities.
- Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and supporting conferences, industry days, workshops, trade shows, or similar outreach events.
- Experience supporting event scheduling, logistics, promotion, registration, coordination, and post-event communications.
- Demonstrated experience developing written communications, multimedia products, digital content, presentations, and communication materials.
- Experience using industry-standard software applications for communications, multimedia, design, presentation development, or digital content.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple communication products, events, and stakeholder requests.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to interface professionally with senior military and civilian leadership.
