Medical-Surgical Neurology Registered Nurse (RN)
The Medical-Surgical Neurology Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological, neurosurgical, and other acute or chronic medical conditions. The RN is responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, administering medications and treatments, monitoring neurological status, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities
Assess patients and monitor changes in neurological and overall medical condition.
Perform neurological assessments, including level of consciousness, pupil response, strength, sensation, and orientation.
Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments.
Provide care to patients with stroke, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, spinal conditions, and other neurological disorders.
Recognize and respond promptly to acute neurological changes, seizures, and other medical emergencies.
Implement seizure, fall, aspiration, and other appropriate safety precautions.
Provide preoperative and postoperative care for neurosurgical patients.
Assist patients with mobility, activities of daily living, and rehabilitation goals.
Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, neurological conditions, and discharge needs.
Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Complete timely and accurate documentation.
Follow all patient-safety and infection-prevention standards.

Qualifications
Active RN license for the state of practice.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications if required by the facility.
Minimum of one year of recent Medical-Surgical, Neurology, Neurosurgical, or Stroke nursing experience.
Experience performing neurological assessments and caring for patients with neurological conditions.
Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills.
