Orthopedic Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
The Orthopedic Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients with
orthopedic injuries, conditions, and surgical needs. The RN is responsible for assessing patients,
providing preoperative and postoperative care, administering medications and treatments,
monitoring recovery, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities
Assess patients and monitor changes in condition.
Provide preoperative and postoperative orthopedic care.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments.
Perform wound care and monitor surgical sites.
Assess and manage pain according to prescribed plans of care.
Monitor circulation, movement, sensation, and mobility.
Assist patients with safe positioning, transfers, and ambulation.
Educate patients and families regarding recovery, mobility, and discharge instructions.
Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team.
Complete timely and accurate documentation.
Follow all patient-safety, fall-prevention, and infection-prevention standards.

Qualifications
Active, unencumbered Illinois RN license.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
ACLS certification if required by the facility.
Minimum of one year of recent Orthopedic Medical-Surgical experience.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, prioritization, and time-management skills.
Level I Hospital Experience preferred/some units required
EMR: Epic experience preferred
