Job Description
Position: Fabrication Supervisor

Position Summary: The Fabrication Supervisor leads day-to-day fabrication operations across three shifts to achieve production, quality, delivery, safety, and cost objectives. This role plans and prioritizes work, optimizes labor, equipment, and workflow, and provides hands-on technical guidance to ensure consistent execution and timely resolution of operational issues. The Supervisor drives continuous improvement, a sense of urgency, and operational excellence standards and ensures compliance with company policies and applicable quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.Essential Functions:- Lead day-to-day fabrication operations to achieve production and shipping plans while meeting ISO 9000, CMD quality, safety, delivery, and cost standards.
- Plan and prioritize work to optimize labor, equipment utilization, workflow, and throughput, and provide design-for-manufacturability feedback.
- Lead daily execution, analyze capacity, and implement recovery plans upon delay.
- Coach and develop direct reports to safely operate, set up, and troubleshoot laser-cutting systems, CNC equipment, press brakes, welding equipment, tooling, and fixtures, and to accurately interpret drawings, specifications, and tolerances for fabricated metal assemblies.
- Conduct routine stand ups to communicate workload, priorities, handoffs, and risks.
- Support the development of the fabrication budget, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
- Support capital improvements within the department, coordinating with external contractors and vendors and internal stakeholders to meet established scope, schedule, quality, and budget requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts from the ground up, empowering employees to seek gains in efficiency and quality and to own mistakes and take corrective action.
- Ensure fabrication operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including permitting, commercial land use, waste management, environmental practices, and logistics.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators and provide regular reports on production activities and performance, risks, and corrective actions.
- Lead fabrication personnel, including workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, technical training, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
- Communicate and consistently enforce company policies, work rules, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient fabrication environment by ensuring equipment safety, regulatory compliance, preventive maintenance, and effective housekeeping practices.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize work, optimize resources, and achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes, equipment, quality standards, and design-for-manufacturability principles.
- Financial acumen to manage budgets, control costs, evaluate proposals, and negotiate effectively with vendors and contractors.
- Sound judgment and timely, data-informed decision-making, with the ability to identify risks, resolve problems, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, permitting, and quality requirements.
- Effective leadership and people-management skills, including clear communication, coaching, accountability, performance management, and employee development.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a professional, approachable, and service-oriented manner when working with internal and external customers.
- High level of integrity, dependability, and accountability in handling operational, financial, safety, and employee matters.

- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and other routine office and manufacturing equipment.
- The position requires sufficient physical mobility to inspect and interact with capital equipment and manufacturing processes, including the ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and work in various positions as needed.
- The position requires the ability to navigate the manufacturing environment safely, including walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing or walking for extended periods.
- Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to visually inspect equipment, components, and work areas, as well as perform computer-based tasks.
- Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and other protective equipment as required by the work environment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, odors, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to follow all applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements, including established safety procedures, PPE requirements, and emergency response protocols.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to operate tow motors, cranes, pallet jacks, and related equipment as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and BoMs.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Associate’s degree in mechanical and/or electrical field, preferred.
- Seven or more years of progressive experience in equipment manufacturing, fabrication, or similar production / shop role.
- Significant experience in the skilled trades, emergency preparedness, US military, or similar field, desirable.
- Certified or able to become certified in First Aid/CPR, preferred.
- Required to carry a cellphone and remain available for contact.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
