Job Description
Company Overview: Serving an area encompassing over 300,000 potential listeners, WLDF-FM (92.9 – The Torch) enriches the community through programming and services that educate, inspire, and entertain, fostering engaged citizenship, and appreciation of arts and culture, the joy of learning, and the power of diverse perspectives.
Summary/Objective: As an on-air personality, this position is responsible for preparing and executing a daily show Monday through Friday. This position also includes regular online content creation responsibilities and oversees the Production of audio and video content for the radio station
Essential Functions: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
•Host a live program on the radio station, focused various styles of music.
•Maintain expert-level knowledge of WideOrbit, the station’s digital library/automation system.
•Plan and coordinate the daily show topics and book guests as needed. This music-centered program should focus on timely, newsworthy, or trending subject matter. The host should feel comfortable interviewing an artist in one segment and presenting interesting, factual information about the music we play in the next.
•Produce a weekly promo, briefly outlining the next week’s program to air in other dayparts.
•Contribute one (1) website article per week. This may be a piece regarding a local, community event or an article relating to music content as determined by the host.
•Contribute one (1) music review per week to the station’s website. This will be, preferably, a review of an upcoming relevant release but it may also be a “retro review”, spotlighting a previously released but, perhaps, underrated album.
•Attend all required weekly/monthly meetings as directed by the Operations Manager.
•Make in-person appearances and carry out remote broadcasts as directed by the Operations Manager.
•Participate in all radio station promotions as directed by the Operations Manager.
•Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures as well as FCC guidelines.
Required Skills:
•A keen understanding of WLDF’s target demographic; possess a strong desire to support diverse artists and communities.
•Superior phone etiquette with the ability to tactfully handle occasional difficult callers.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Able to work with minimum supervision.
•Ability to learn Radio Automation Systems and all relevant Production Software, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the Internet.
•Ability to multi‐task with excellent time management skills.
•Strong organizational skills.
•Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
•Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
•Able to work collectively in a mission-driven environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
•2 years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Reliable transportation with a valid WI Driver’s License.
•Must possess superior customer service, speaking, and listening skills.
•A professional appearance and demeanor with the ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with the public both internal and external, on the phone and in person.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performing environment and appropriately interface with similar executives at other tribal broadcast organizations and corporations as well as music and entertainment industry professionals.
•Dependable, trustworthy and responsible team player, well organized, detailed, and shows initiative, ability to multi‐task with flexibility and openness to various duties.
•Ability to demonstrate patience, compassion, and understanding toward our listeners, and communities. Serve enthusiastically as one of the primary ambassadors of our organization in this public-facing position.
