Job Description:
Are you detail‑oriented, organized, task‑driven, and love helping people? If yes, the Storekeeper I position could be the perfect job for you!
About the Role
As a Storekeeper I, you’ll play a critical role in making sure our Maintenance & Operations team has the materials and equipment they need to keep our water and sanitary sewer systems in good repair. You’ll be the go‑to person for receiving, stocking, tracking, and delivering inventory—supporting crews who provide essential services to our community every day.
What You’ll Do
- Receive & verify inventory: Check quantity and quality of items against invoices, report discrepancies, unpack and store items, and enter data into inventory databases.
- Replenish stock: Initiate requisitions/purchase orders for standard items per established procedures and follow up on outstanding orders.
- Fulfill requests: Assemble, record, package, and deliver stock items to user departments; issue stock, tools, and supplies to individuals.
- Support repairs: Collect used parts/equipment and capture details on order forms to facilitate replacement or repair.
- Source special items: Take orders for items not carried in stock and coordinate procurement.
- Local pickups & returns: Drive a truck to pick up parts/equipment from suppliers, return parts for credit, or match up components; pick up office supplies as needed.
- Keep the warehouse ready: Restock shelves and routinely clean inventory storage areas to maintain a safe, organized workspace.
- Document work orders: Record work orders (including date/time) so supervisors can order materials for specific jobs.
- Maintain ledgers & databases: Maintain blanket purchase ledgers (e.g., in Microsoft Access), input receipt/expenditure entries, and update material receipts in stock databases.
- Oversee employee uniforms: Manage issuance, tracking, and returns of uniforms.
- Tackle special projects: Build crates to ship parts/equipment back to vendors, construct shelves, prepare sandbags, and move supplies as needed.
- Administrative support: Maintain clerical records, prepare routine reports, assist with periodic/special inventories, and compile periodic stock inventory lists.
- Other related duties as assigned.
If you’re ready to take on a rewarding role where you can help others and work alongside a passionate team, we would love to hear from you!
