Job Description

Under general supervision and reporting to Quality Operations Leadership, the Quality Specialist is responsible for approving nonconformances, lead improvement projects, coordination with MRB, and conduct audits, as required acting with minimal direction to drive solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Approve production nonconformances and support Material Review Board (MRB) disposition activities alongside the Production Quality Engineer Support containment activities including sort, rework, and isolation under the direction of PQE/MQE
  • Conduct layered process audits, product audits, torque audits, teardown audits, and other quality audits
  • Maintain production targets, including NC approval and inspection coverage during staffing gaps
  • Primary point of contact for harvesting prioritization Author and maintain SOPs for inspection processes
  • Manage ordering and tracking of tools and equipment for the inspection team Lead large-scale nonconformance reduction initiatives under PQE guidance, or lead smaller-scale initiatives independently in high-ambiguity situations
  • Clearly define problems, build action plans, and drive closure Analyze quality data using Advanced Excel, Minitab, JMP, and SQL (executing pre-built queries with filter inputs)
  • Document inspection results, maintain accurate records, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Process and identify non-conforming product and MRB paperwork for proper disposition. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skill:

  • IPC-610/-620 requirements
  • Metrology inspection software
  • Engineering Processes, Standard Drawings Conventions, Interpreting Drawing, Specifications, and GD&T
  • FAA, EAR, ITAR. ISO, & AS9100 standards and regulations
  • PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow, and Control Plans
  • Quality control standards and inspection methods
  • Manufacturing documentation and processes
  • MS Office and quality data entry systems

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Prior practical experience and implementation of Quality Engineering tools and systems such as: DOE, FMEA, SPC, RCCA, APQP, PPAP, controls plans, material control, process control, systems performance, product evaluation, MSA, metrology, automated measurement, and software is preferred.

  • MS Office
Additional requirements
  • High school diploma or BA in relevant field
  • 1 year experience in a production quality role with demonstrated NC management and MRB exposure
  • 1 year of Audit experience — layered process, product, torque, or teardown audits
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools: Advanced Excel required; Minitab, JMP, and basic SQL experience strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with inspection processes and nonconformance systems
  • Any combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Shift will vary, depending on program needs

WORKING CONDITIONS
Productivity: Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction.
Mobility: Incumbents are required to participate in assigned physical activities which may include light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Vision: Vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others.
Environment: Typical office conditions, directly working Quality management team, working with the SMS team, and external customers.
Other Factors:
The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk (approximately 1-2 miles a day); sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will occasionally drive long distances to and from various suppliers as needed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Pay Range

$40.00-$50.00 per hour eligible for overtime, please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
