BASIC FUNcTIONS

An Engineer in Training shall provide engineering support for the Operations department which shall include completion of engineering work packages, engineering design, and engineering drawings, as well as participation in research and development activities. They shall perform the duties required to maintain and execute a suitable hot tap welder performance qualification program. They are to also ensure that RFI meets the engineering needs of customer/clients and that all of their requirements are met.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technologist from a recognized institution
  • Be qualified and registered as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with APEGA or TT with ASET
  • Possess knowledge and skill in the use of 3D drafting in applicable drafting programs
  • The internal training for this position will be identified within the Red Flame Industries Training Matrix


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Engineer in Training will report directly to the Vice President for Canadian Operations

AUTHORITY

An Engineer in Training has the authority to advise the Plant & Pipeline team on the engineering aspects of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Top Five

  • Assist in the creation of assigned engineering deliverables
  • Participate as required in research and development activities
  • Advise the Management team and project leads on all applicable codes and regulations
  • Work with operations and sales teams to assist in the growth and development or the organization


Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all work completed for clients complies with relevant legislation and client requirements
  • Ensure that quality control is maintained as per the RFI quality management system requirements
  • Follow all applicable RFI work instructions and procedures
  • Provide Engineering support
  • Provide Project Management
  • Provide customer/client care; ensuring their needs are met in an orderly and fair fashion
  • Develop procedures and guidelines for hot tapping and other field services
  • Conduct field visits as required


DUTIES

  • Provide engineering support for operations, including: engineering assessments, 3D Drawings, engineering work packages, engineering design, and research and development
  • Project Management including: gathering information from clients, assisting the operations manager, and working with various different groups within Red Flame to develop solutions for clients
  • Ensure Red Flame meets customers/clients engineering needs and all their requirements are met
  • Assist in the development of procedures and guidelines for hot tapping and other field services.
  • Identify client needs and communicate to the company in order to facilitate continuous improvement
  • Other duties as required
