Job Description
Job Summary:
The Nurse Clinician is a member of the Resident care team. The position requires that the individual be clinically competent and knowledgeable of healthcare regulations. The Nurse Clinician shall be responsible for assessment, monitoring, and treatment of difficult wounds in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and the physician as evidenced by documentation in Resident’s Care Record and direct observation. The Nurse Clinician shall have the ability to appropriately read and comprehend data collected which reflects the Resident’s status and interprets the data needed to identify each Resident’s level of need and care. The nurse clinician performs weekly body audits on all residents, may delegate as needed. Initiates treatments on any new skin issues and updates treatment orders and care plan as needed. Prepares weekly skin reports and presents information in weekly PAR Meeting and monthly Quality Assurance (QA) meeting with medical director and interdisciplinary team. Perform other job duties as needed.
Performance Expectations:
- Ensures that all residents receive a head to toe body audit every week.
- Displays clinical understanding of pathology and etiology of wound development.
- Initiates treatment to prevent and treat wounds.
Understanding of wound care process and need to notify doctors of changes as needed. - Participates in rotation for administrative call.
- Stays current and up to date on evidence based best practice related to prevention, assessment, and treatment of skin and wound care.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of recognized non-online RN or LPN program required.
Work Experience:
One year experience in long-term care nursing preferred. One year experience in wound care preferred.
Certification/Licensure-
- Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
- Wound Care Certification and/or Wound Skin Ostomy Certified from an evidenced based/accredited course preferred.
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
- Basic Life Support
