| Job Summary | The Director of Strategic Initiatives provides leadership for Commission initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, public outreach, strategic partnerships, and communications supporting EPIC’s statutory mission. The position develops and coordinates initiatives that increase awareness of EPIC’s work, expand collaboration among Kentucky’s energy stakeholders, support Commission meetings and public events, and improve the delivery of objective energy information to policymakers, local governments, industry, and the public. Working closely with the Executive Director and Commission leadership, the Director of Strategic Initiatives identifies opportunities that advance the Commission’s mission, coordinates cross-functional projects, supports strategic planning, and ensures Commission activities are effectively organized and communicated. The Executive Director and Commission members remain the Commission’s primary representatives with elected officials, utility leadership, federal agencies, industry executives, and other senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong strategic project management and organizational planning skills, along with the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government officials, industry representatives, and academic partners. The position requires proficiency in preparing executive briefing materials, presentations, and written reports, as well as the ability to translate complex technical or policy information into clear, accessible communications for general audiences. Candidates should possess experience in conference and event planning, including coordinating logistics, speakers, and supporting materials, and be able to manage cross-functional projects while balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines. Strong public communication and media coordination skills are also essential. Knowledge of energy policy, electricity markets, or related public policy areas is beneficial but not required. |
