Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Low Voltage Cable Lead Installer/Technician to join our team. This role requires a dedicated professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for technology. You will lead projects installing various types of cabling systems, ensuring high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities and Skills:
- Terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat 6/6A and fiber optic cabling systems
- Includes fusion splicing, scribe & polish termination, and operating test equipment (cable certifiers, OTDR, etc.)
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical drawings
- Install and configure low-voltage systems
- Includes IP cameras, access control panels, intrusion detection, TVs, and audio/video equipment (speakers, displays)
- Pull, dress, label, and secure structured cabling to industry and ACCI standards
- Design and build cable pathways (cable tray, J-hooks, conduit) and support structures
- Rack and stack network equipment, patch panels, and switches
- Install and terminate jacks, faceplates, and patch panels
- Troubleshoot and repair cabling and connected devices
- Perform site surveys and validate project scope
- Document work performed: create as-builts, update redlines, and complete daily/close-out reports
- Lead and mentor junior technicians; coordinate and supervise small teams as needed
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects on time
- Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other trades
- Maintain safety protocols and promote a safe work environment
- Organize and manage time across multiple jobs or service calls
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good condition
- Physical ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces; able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Willingness to travel to job sites as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further technical training preferred.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in low voltage cable installation.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage small teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in reading blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to travel within 75 miles of Tampa as needed.
