Position Summary
EVgo’s Growth Strategy & Operations team enables the expansion and scaling of the nation’s largest public fast charging network through deep, strategic partnerships with a select group of the country’s largest and most sophisticated retailers and property owners (site hosts). The team serves as the bridge between internal and external stakeholders from network planning through construction complete, eliminating friction within the delivery process and enabling EVgo to complete more sites, faster and predictably.
The team is seeking a Sr Site Development Manager to transform approved site opportunities into construction-ready EV charging sites. Managing a portfolio of assigned sites, this role leads the site development process from early-stage feasibility through construction-ready by integrating commercial, engineering, legal, and operational requirements into a buildable solution that meets the needs of both EVgo and its strategic partners. Success is measured by consistently producing a high volume of high-quality, commercially aligned site designs, earning the confidence of strategic partners through disciplined execution and predictable operating rhythms, and delivering construction-ready projects that accelerate network growth.
Working in close partnership with Portfolio Partner Management, Program Management, Development Engineering, Legal, Grid, and Construction, the Sr Site Development Manager leads the site development process by evaluating feasibility, preparing preliminary site layouts, facilitating alignment on site designs, managing development changes, coordinating development documentation, and resolving site-level risks. While Development Engineering owns detailed engineering design, code compliance, permit drawings, and engineering approvals, the Sr Site Development Manager ensures engineering solutions remain aligned with Site Host objectives, commercial agreements, constructability, and overall project development goals. The Sr Site Development Manager develops the technical and commercial recommendations that support lease and license negotiations, partners with Legal to execute development agreements consistent with negotiated business terms and proactively resolves issues that could delay construction or negatively impact partner operations.
This is a production-oriented project development role for a highly collaborative, team-first professional that excels at bringing together diverse stakeholders to create clarity and momentum throughout the development process. Combining commercial awareness with technical judgment and disciplined execution, they build trusted working relationships and predictable operating rhythms with strategic partners, proactively manage development risks, and consistently advance a high volume of projects to construction-ready that meet the objectives of both EVgo and its strategic partners.
Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of EV charging site development projects from approved site opportunities to construction-ready.Evaluate site feasibility by assessing operational, commercial, and physical site constraints. Develop preliminary site layouts that balance Site Host objectives, constructability, and EVgo design standards.Identify risks early and drive resolution before they impact schedule, partner experience, or construction readiness.Ensure projects consistently advance through the development lifecycle with quality, speed, and predictability.Facilitate timely decisions on site layouts, design revisions, and development issues while balancing commercial, operational, engineering, and constructability considerations.Manage development changes by evaluating impacts to site design, partner goals, commercial agreements, schedule, and construction readiness.Maintain alignment between partner expectations, engineering deliverables, legal documentation, and project objectives throughout the development lifecycle.Develop commercial and technical recommendations that support lease, license, and easement negotiations led by the Portfolio Partner Management team.Prepare and maintain development documentation, including preliminary site plans, Letters of Authorization (LOAs), easement exhibits, and other site development deliverables.Partner with Legal to execute development agreements consistent with negotiated commercial terms.Ensure development documentation accurately reflects approved site layouts and agreed-upon commercial requirements.Lead pre-construction alignment activities with internal teams and external partners to ensure a complete and frictionless transition to Construction.Identify and resolve site-level issues that could delay construction or negatively impact partner operations.Maintain accurate data, including forecasts and story/notes, in the schedule/project delivery tool.Meet activity production requirements and forecast accuracy. Share site evaluation and negotiation best practices with less experienced Site Development team members.Identify opportunities to improve site development processes, documentation standards, and cross-functional collaboration to increase development throughput and predictability.Qualifications
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.Desired Skills
Equivalent technical education or training in a related field (e.g., certification program, coursework in real estate, business development, or urban planning, or demonstrated on-the-job learning) accepted in lieu of a formal degree.Advanced knowledge of commercial real estate, utility interconnection processes, and site permitting requirements across multiple markets.Up to 25% travel may be required for site visits, host meetings, and cross-functional coordination across the assigned portfolio.Experience managing relationships with large, national accounts.Existing relationships and understanding of the commercial real estate market.Team‑first mentality with strong executive, cross‑functional, and partner communication and presentation skills.Ability to engage comfortably with executives, technical teams, and individual contributors.Exceptional attention to detail and comfort operating with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Demonstrated experience managing large portfolios with hundreds of concurrent projects.Data‑driven mindset with strong analytical skills.Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM or project portfolio management tools.Strong financial acumen and passion for sustainability and EV technology.Benefits and Perks

Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
