Specialist GenAI Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Specialist GenAI Architect based in Canada.

The Specialist GenAI Architect will play a critical role in designing and scaling enterprise-grade generative AI solutions that improve productivity, innovation, and business capabilities.
This position combines advanced architecture expertise with hands-on technical leadership to deliver secure, reusable, and production-ready AI applications.
The successful candidate will shape AI adoption strategies, establish technical standards, and guide teams through the complete solution lifecycle.
Working across engineering, data, security, product, and business teams, this role will translate complex needs into practical AI-powered solutions.
The position offers the opportunity to influence the future of enterprise AI through modern technologies including LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, and automation frameworks.
This is a high-impact role for an architect passionate about responsible AI, scalable platforms, and solving complex challenges in a collaborative environment.

Accountabilities:

The Specialist GenAI Architect will lead the architecture, governance, and delivery of advanced generative AI solutions, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise technology standards. The role requires strategic thinking, technical depth, and the ability to guide cross-functional teams from concept development through production implementation.

  • Design end-to-end architectures for LLM-powered assistants, AI agents, custom GPT solutions, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications, and AI-enabled business solutions.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into architecture designs, integration patterns, data flows, security models, deployment strategies, and implementation guidance.
  • Select appropriate AI solution patterns based on performance, scalability, cost, risk, maintainability, and business requirements.
  • Architect solutions using enterprise AI platforms, APIs, vector search technologies, governed data sources, and modern AI development frameworks.
  • Develop prototypes, reference implementations, and proof-of-concept solutions to validate architecture decisions and accelerate delivery.
  • Guide engineering teams through implementation while ensuring alignment with security policies, architecture standards, and operational requirements.
  • Conduct architecture reviews to identify technical risks, security concerns, governance requirements, and operational dependencies.
  • Establish reusable AI architecture patterns, technical standards, guardrails, and documentation to support enterprise adoption.
  • Define requirements related to privacy, responsible AI, observability, scalability, performance, auditability, and cost management.
  • Implement safeguards addressing AI risks such as data leakage, prompt injection, unauthorized access, insecure tool execution, and inappropriate outputs.
  • Partner with product, engineering, cybersecurity, data, platform, and business teams to advance AI initiatives from strategy to production.
  • Provide technical mentorship, lead architecture discussions, and support teams through design reviews, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced technology architect with strong expertise in generative AI, cloud architecture, software engineering, and enterprise solution design. They should be comfortable balancing innovation with security, governance, and operational excellence while communicating effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

  • Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience in computer science, information technology, engineering, data science, or related fields.
  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, system design, cloud architecture, or solution architecture, including experience leading complex technical designs.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience architecting and delivering production generative AI applications, AI assistants, agents, custom GPTs, or RAG solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of GenAI architecture concepts, including prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, retrieval strategies, agent orchestration, evaluation methods, and AI governance.
  • Demonstrated experience designing secure, scalable solutions across application, AI, data, integration, cloud, security, deployment, and operational layers.
  • Experience architecting cloud-based solutions using AWS services, including cloud-native compute, identity management, networking, APIs, event-driven architectures, monitoring, and cost optimization.
  • Strong understanding of secure enterprise integrations using REST APIs, OAuth, service identities, role-based access control, secrets management, and least-privilege principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python with experience building prototypes, APIs, automation tools, evaluation utilities, or AI solution components.
  • Experience creating architecture documentation, technical specifications, implementation guidance, and operational materials.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, executives, product teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with AI platforms and technologies such as ChatGPT Enterprise, OpenAI APIs, SDKs, MCP-based applications, LangChain, LangGraph, or similar frameworks is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, vector search, semantic layers, SQL-based AI solutions, modern web architectures, CI/CD practices, and responsible AI frameworks is preferred.
  • Experience in regulated industries, AI security, threat modeling, compliance, or validated technology environments is an advantage.
  • Relevant cloud, architecture, security, data, or AI certifications are considered an asset.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of approximately CAD $105,745 to $143,067 annually.
  • Comprehensive total rewards package aligned with local market standards.
  • Remote work opportunity available across Canada.
  • Supportive and collaborative environment focused on innovation and professional growth.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge generative AI initiatives with enterprise-scale impact.
  • Access to learning opportunities and resources to advance technical expertise.
  • Inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, collaboration, and employee development.
  • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful solutions that improve outcomes for people worldwide.
