Description:

This role is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the Human Resources function, including employee relations, recruiting, benefits, compensation, safety, compliance, payroll oversight, workers' compensation, leave administration, and performance management. The Human Resources Manager serves as a trusted resource to employees, supervisors, and company leadership while fostering a productive, safe, and compliant workplace.

The Human Resources Manager provides leadership and direction to the Human Resources Administrator, who supports the day-to-day administration of many HR processes. The Human Resources Manager is expected to identify opportunities for improvement and bring forward recommendations that strengthen employee engagement, workforce effectiveness, compliance, and organizational performance.

This position reports directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Leadership

Serve as the primary HR contact for employees, supervisors, and managers.

  • Lead the Human Resources function and serve as the primary HR advisor to management.
  • Partner with leadership to support organizational goals, workforce planning, and employee development.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, policies, communication, and employee experience.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Human Resources Administrator.
  • Ensure HR services are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in a manner consistent with company values and objectives.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Advise supervisors and managers on employee relations matters, performance concerns, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and assist in resolving employee concerns and conflicts.
  • Support managers in maintaining a productive, respectful, and accountable work environment.
  • Assist leadership in addressing complex personnel issues and organizational challenges.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development

  • Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and hiring priorities.
  • Oversee the Company's recruiting and onboarding processes, including coordination with external recruiting and temporary staffing partners.
  • Support the selection, hiring, and successful integration of new employees into the organization.
  • Monitor workforce trends and staffing needs and recommend improvements to recruiting, retention, and workforce development efforts.

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll

  • Oversee administration of employee benefit programs and annual enrollment activities.
  • Serve as a resource for complex employee benefit issues and vendor relationships.
  • Support compensation administration and market wage reviews.
  • Provide oversight of payroll and timekeeping processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Safety, Workers' Compensation & Compliance

  • Support and promote a strong workplace safety culture.
  • Coordinate OSHA compliance activities, reporting requirements, and safety initiatives.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Participate in accident investigations and corrective action efforts.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

HR Operations

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of employee records, HR systems, and related administrative processes.
  • Provide oversight of leave administration, unemployment claims, employee status changes, and related programs.
  • Maintain and update company policies, procedures, and employee handbook materials.
  • Support administration of the Company's 401(k) and other employee programs.
  • Assist with employee communications, recognition efforts, and company-sponsored events.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Seven or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or coordinating the work of others preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment law, benefits administration, safety, and HR compliance.
  • Experience managing workers' compensation and leave administration.
  • Experience supporting payroll and timekeeping processes.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility, including production areas.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods as needed.
