The Evergreen School, an independent school serving highly capable students in preschool through 8th grade, is currently accepting applications for a Community & Belonging Program Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Evergreen School seeks a collaborative, organized, and student-centered Community & Belonging Program Coordinator to support the continued development of the school’s community and belonging initiatives during a period of program refinement and curricular alignment.

Working closely with the Director of Diversity and Community Engagement, Division Heads, and faculty across divisions, this position focuses on student engagement, restorative practices support, resource development, and program coordination across the school community. The Coordinator will help strengthen systems that support belonging, assist faculty in incorporating identity and belonging into existing curriculum and classroom experiences, and support implementation of student-centered community initiatives.

This role is currently designed as more of a support position and will evolve based on programmatic needs and strategic priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Student Engagement & Restorative Practices Work
    • Build positive, supportive relationships with students across divisions.
    • Support affinity spaces and student engagement opportunities in collaboration with faculty and the Director of Diversity and Community Engagement.
    • Assist in facilitating developmentally appropriate restorative conversations and community-building practices with students as appropriate.
    • Partner with divisional leaders and counselors to help reinforce restorative approaches to conflict resolution, reflection, accountability, and community care.
    • Serve as a visible and supportive adult presence during student programming, affinity spaces, and community events.
  • Identity & Belonging Resource Support
    • Research, organize, and curate resources that help faculty incorporate identity, belonging, and diverse perspectives into existing learning units and classroom experiences.
    • Collaborate with faculty and school leaders to support inclusive classroom environments and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
    • Assist with the organization and maintenance of community and belonging resource materials for faculty and staff.
    • Support preparation of lesson materials, activities, and programming resources in collaboration with the Director of Diversity and Community Engagement and academic leadership.
    • Assist with gathering feedback and reflections to support ongoing program development and assessment.
  • Program Coordination & Community Events
    • Coordinate logistics and communication for community and belonging programming, including assemblies, affinity space gatherings, Social Justice Day, and student events.
    • Support planning and implementation of student-centered programming across divisions.
    • Assist with scheduling, materials preparation, registration, and event organization.
    • Coordinate student participation in local and regional conferences, workshops, and events.
    • Maintain calendars, shared resources, and program documentation for the DEIB Office.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and school leaders to support an inclusive and welcoming school environment.
    • Participate in relevant meetings, professional development, and community events.
    • Support communication and coordination between divisions and the DEIB Office.
    • Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all student and community matters.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in education, human development, or a related field; relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
    • Experience working with students, preferably in middle school settings.
    • Experience supporting student engagement, community programming, restorative practices, or community-building initiatives; Preferred experience supporting equity, belonging, or inclusive practices within educational settings.
    • Preferred experience collaborating with classroom teachers and supporting integration of inclusive resources into existing curriculum and classroom experiences.
    • Preferred experience working in independent schools or similarly mission-driven educational environments.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to connect with students across a variety of age groups.
    • Ability to support restorative conversations and student reflection in developmentally appropriate ways.
    • Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to research, organize, and curate educational resources and materials for faculty use.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds in connection with job duties such as assisting with classroom setup or moving materials.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and move comfortably throughout classrooms and school hallways for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs, navigate uneven surfaces, and escort students as needed between locations within and outside school buildings.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required at times

Position Details:

This is a non-exempt, full-time, benefits-eligible position. This position follows a 10-month schedule, paid from September to June. The salary range for this position is $55,000 to 65,000 per year, depending on degree(s) and years of experience.
