This role is responsible for managing complex default-related matters involving delinquent mortgage loans, with a strong focus on litigation and title curative actions. You will analyze cases, assess financial and legal risk, and support strategies for effective resolution. The position works closely with attorneys, senior leaders, clients, and title companies to ensure matters are handled accurately and in accordance with applicable requirements. You will monitor assigned portfolios, identify trends and process gaps, and recommend improvements that reduce risk. The role also involves maintaining detailed case records, reporting on portfolio activity, and supporting critical legal events. - Monitor and resolve litigated matters and title curative actions associated with delinquent mortgage loans.
- Manage assigned cases and analyze their merits to determine potential financial and operational risk.
- Assist legal counsel in developing resolution strategies consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and investor guidelines.
- Maintain accurate system-of-record information and reporting regarding litigation status, title curative activity, resolution strategies, critical events, and deadlines.
- Prepare, review, and discuss portfolio updates, risks, and recommendations with senior management and clients.
- Identify trends and recurring issues resulting from process gaps and recommend corrective actions to department leadership.
- Ensure assigned portfolios are handled in accordance with applicable investor requirements and servicing guidelines.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with attorneys, senior management, clients, title companies, and other stakeholders.
- Respond to management and client inquiries and provide well-supported recommendations for resolution.
- Attend hearings, trials, depositions, and other legal proceedings on behalf of the organization, with travel potentially exceeding 50%.
- Monitor activity across multiple accounts assigned to outside counsel and support settlement negotiations when required.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal, financial, and customer information while meeting strict deadlines and productivity expectations.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Paralegal certificate, legal experience, and/or at least 4 years of default servicing and title curative experience.
- Previous experience in mortgage default servicing, preferably in a role involving litigation, title resolution, or legal processes.
- Working knowledge of mortgage banking and regulations including RESPA, FFDCPA, GLBA, and applicable federal and state foreclosure laws.
- Ability to interpret government, regulatory, and departmental guidelines and audit work outputs for compliance.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional electronic correspondence with attorneys, clients, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to interpret legal terms and conditions and understand how they apply to operational processes.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
- Proven ability to manage multiple accounts, prioritize workflows, and meet critical deadlines.
- Experience working directly with attorneys and negotiating settlements.
- Strong PC skills, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Internet applications, and mortgage servicing systems such as MSP/LPS/Fidelity.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required, potentially exceeding 50%.
- Ability to work normal business hours and, when necessary, early, late, or weekend hours, including overtime.
- Compensation range of $19.33–$28.89 per hour, with actual compensation based on qualifications, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
