Position type: Part time and Full Time
Pay range: $26-$32 Hourly

About the Role
Kahuna is seeking engineering interns for all departments. This role will support and receive on-the-job training from experienced professional engineers and project managers designing industrial facilities in the energy industry. Our internship program is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives to secure a permanent position with the company. Potential responsibilities include:
What You’ll Do
- Able to generate lists, specifications, RFQs and data sheets (ISA) for instrumentation based on P&ID and process model information.
- Generate a piping isometric from scratch with BOM
- Participation in construction activities and communication with field personnel.
- Participation in facility startup activities and operating procedure creation.
- Medium and low voltage power system design.
- PLC-based process control/automation and communication system design.
- Project engineering tasks (client interaction and job scoping, equipment specification, engineering calculations and drawing reviews, contractor bidding, onsite construction inspection, system commissioning and troubleshooting assistance, project management).
- Basic understanding of foundation types/steel shapes and correct application of them.
- Basic understanding of control system and industrial networking components, equipment, and applications.
- General understanding of ACI, ASCI, ASCE, IBC, PIP codes, and ability to apply these correctly and efficiently with guidance from experienced engineers.
What You'll Bring:
- Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- Strong work ethic, and willingness/ability to travel to field project locations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to quickly react to changing priorities and deadlines.
