Job Description
The position of the Materials Clerk focuses on the process of preparing and delivering materials to the various panel assembly areas. This may involve creating part kits to be used both internally within the panel shop and externally for delivery to customer sites.
This is an onsite role 5 days a week working a 1st shift schedule.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Works under the direction of the Director of Finance & Director of Electrical Operations.
- Works with other departments to ensure the movement of materials from the point of storage to the appropriate work area in coordination with schedule requirements.
- Ensure that materials delivered to the work area are well marked for the project to avoid confusion and mixing of job materials.
- Stores subassemblies for a project to be used at a later point in the wiring and assembly process.
- Accounts for the movement and location of materials throughout the process using the ERP software.
- Organize materials received in bulk for a project into smaller quantities so the appropriate quantity of materials is delivered to the point of usage.
- Creates boxed kits of parts based on a specific bill of material.
- Verifies inventory levels of parts on hand match quantities identified in the ERP software.
- Generate appropriate reports and documents using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Responsible for keeping parts storage area neat and well organized. Materials are always kept in a designated storage area.
- Ensure materials that are left over as overstock from completed jobs are properly accounted for.
- Provides accountability of materials purchased in bulk, including recording quantities pulled from inventory to be used for a project.
- Notifies purchasing when stocked materials reach an inventory level requiring reorder.
- Works together with electrical leads to define job priorities for kitting & parts delivery.
- Keep racking organized, making sure space is optimized and utilized to capacity.
- Acts as back up to the shipping and receiving staff member.
Skill Requirements:
- Minimum of high school diploma
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read written work instructions and follow directions.
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing requirements.
- Ability to lift/handle up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk, stand, squat, reach and stretch during work schedule.
- Ability to use normal hand tools, such as, hammer, screwdriver, wire cutter/stripper, crimping tools, tape measure, power drill, power screwdriver, etc.
- Ability to use and interrupt scale to weigh small parts to large pallets.
