Position Summary:
The Museum Studies Program at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a Professor of Practice in Museum Studies to begin in August 10, 2026. This is a full-time, Professor of Practice position in Museum Studies. Applicants must have a Terminal degree (Master's, MFA, or PhD) in Museum Studies or a related field by June 30, 2026.
We seek an accomplished individual who demonstrates a commitment to interdisciplinary practice, who can offer undergraduate and graduate courses in Museum Studies, and who is prepared to take an active role in mentoring students in a Master's program with an excellent record of preparing our graduates for careers in the museum profession.
Duties include teaching courses in-person and online in the Program each semester. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in Museum Studies or a related discipline with significant experience as a museum professional and work with Native American heritage and communities.

4) Interest and/or experience in mentoring advanced undergraduates and graduate students; Experience in or potential for building relationships and/or collaborative projects with Native communities
5) A commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the University's mission to serve local and global communities
