About This Position
Reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer. Provides facilitation and consulting services to various areas within Beacon Health System (BHS) related to improved organizational effectiveness. Assists with implementing strategies related to improved results and team effectiveness. Serves as an educator across Beacon Health System. Works with individuals so they can explore alternatives to improved productivity and effectiveness in their job. Assists with developing and implementing organizational initiatives and activities that promote Beacon's initiatives, philosophy, goals and objectives.

Provides coaching in order to assist with implementing strategies related to improved results (for example, related to day-to-day operational activities) and team effectiveness by:
- Consulting with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization to assess their needs and then guiding them to the most-appropriate solution using tools such as process redesign or problem-solving.
- Coaching, mentoring and teaching team members in the application of those skills which are necessary for world-class service, work redesign, organizational effectiveness and enhancement of quality of work life; also assisting with communication skills, career planning and problem identification/resolution skills.
- Designing assessment techniques to identify areas needing improvement. Also providing a perspective that is focused on the best-possible outcome.
- Facilitating the use of various tools and resources, such as the Hartman Value Profile.
- Creating and implementing processes to evaluate the outcomes of activities, including measuring, tracking and reporting on indicators and (when necessary) taking appropriate follow-up action.
- Collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and data; also preparing reports and presenting the findings to the appropriate strategic stakeholder(s).
- Working with individuals to define their goals, become more receptive to feedback from others, explore alternative behaviors and learn behaviors that are more effective.
- Teaching and facilitating activities that help both individuals and organizational groups to have improved goal setting skills.
- Overseeing and initiating the change process by upgrading team members' leadership abilities in such areas as: team improvement activities, inter-group relations, planning, developing implementation tactics, evaluating change and identifying future direction(s).
- Providing training related to monitoring and measuring results.
- Making referrals to resources outside BHS if appropriate.
Assists with developing and implementing organizational initiatives to help meet organizational goals or change organizational effectiveness, structure, environment (culture) by:
- Developing and providing training and educational activities to increase associate's interpersonal and quality improvement skills.
- Providing insight to the employees of various areas regarding the importance of ongoing efforts to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality service.
- Working with organizational leaders to develop initiatives, creative programs and/or presentations to clarify and communicate BHS' mission, vision and values and organizational goals to various stakeholders (team members, Board members and the community).
- Acting in a consulting role and, if necessary, as a change agent (for example, when providing input to strategic stakeholders regarding a corporate initiative where change is involved).
- Designing, facilitating and analyzing the joint activities of interdependent groups that are intended to result in operational improvements; also collecting data (or information) and monitoring the results of the joint activities.
- Planning, developing and implementing activities with strategic stakeholders whose support is necessary in order to ensure a successful process redesign and improved efficiency.
- Providing assistance with the design and implementation of innovative programs to address organizational issues.
- Collaborating with key policy makers to ascertain the environmental (cultural) and human resources demands on the organization and to engage in both short and long-term planning to adequately address those demands.
Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
- Representing Beacon in related networks outside of Beacon (such as our local community or region) and communicating with Beacon's leaders regarding any insights and/or possible strategies that being used successfully by other organizations.
- Representing Beacon in community and regional activities.
- Utilizing insight and synthesizing one's own knowledge and experience regarding similar scenarios when developing a plan of action for a particular area or group; also identifying the best possible usage of the tools that are available.
- Communicating with other Consultants regarding possible approaches to use when seeking solutions to problems.
- Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Master's degree in Education, Behavioral Science, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Organizational Management, Communication, Psychology or a related field. Five to seven years experience as a leader, facilitator, or quality improvement trainer is required. Previous organizational development experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Requires knowledge of the principles, training methods and techniques used in adult education, group dynamics, organizational diagnosis and systems, conflict management, work redesign, management theory and behavioral science principles.
- Requires the planning, organization, problem-solving and analytical skills necessary to provide effective counseling, coaching and training; also requires the creativity necessary to formulate innovative ideas and solutions.
- Demonstrates the interpersonal skills necessary to interface tactfully and diplomatically with people at all levels of the organization and with a diverse general public. Also must be able to establish rapport, build trust and gain the support of individuals at various levels of the organization.
- Demonstrates the communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to communicate in a tactful, sincere and effective manner and be an active listener; also must be able to create presentations and training sessions and write video scripts.
- Demonstrates the ability to make effective presentations to small and large groups.
- Requires proficient computer skills (i.e., data entry, word processing and spreadsheets) and knowledge of software programs such as Power Point.
- Demonstrates the well-developed group process skills that are necessary to positively affect individuals in a group setting.
- Requires an overall understanding of general business operations and how areas communicate with each other in a computerized environment.
- Requires the ability to collect, analyze, use and summarize information and data.
Working Conditions
- Works in an office environment.
- Work hours may vary to meet the needs of the Department.
- Travel may be required.
- May be required to transport equipment, props and supplies to various locations.
