About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to support and enhance payroll operations across a multi-entity, national organization.
This role combines hands-on payroll processing with team support and continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a key role in ensuring payroll is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time, while partnering with cross-functional teams to support employee lifecycle changes and reporting requirements.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Support the Payroll Team
- Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and technical support
- Support accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple entities
Payroll Operations & Compliance
- Review and validate bi-weekly payroll
- Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll legislation across provinces
- Act as an escalation point for complex payroll inquiries
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with HR, Finance, and operational leaders
- Ensure employee changes (hires, terminations, compensation updates) are accurately reflected
Reporting & Year-End
- Support audits and maintain accurate payroll documentation
- Assist with T4 and RL1 reporting and reconciliations
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency
- Support onboarding and training of new payroll team members
What You Bring
- Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll, including experience in a lead or senior capacity
- PCP certification required; CPM is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Workday, or similar
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., Pivot Tables, look-ups)
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
