Job Description

Provide direct care of patients under the supervision of the Clinical Director. Provide counseling for individuals, groups and families; provides case management services; performs addiction assessments; coordinates discharge planning; maintains appropriate documentation in patient records; conducts searches of patients’ belongings, collects specimens for and interprets drug screens, conducts searches of patient rooms and belongings as needed; assists other staff in milieu management. Adheres to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and continuing professional development.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology or mental health field, minimum. Masters degree in counseling, social work, behavioral medicine preferred.
- Demonstrate and ongoing commitment to professional growth, development and excellence required.
- Strong organizational skills and effective in working with a team.
- Excellent verbal/written and interpersonal communication required.
- Familiar with federal and state regulations relating to field of employment, as well as JCAHO requirements.
- Able to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands.
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to: Microsoft office, Outlook and the aptitude to navigate electronic medical records effectively.
- Basic office equipment skills including but not limited to: photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, telephone system, shred boxes, calculators, computers, printers and keyboards.
Required Length and Type of Experience
- Two years experience in an inpatient, addiction treatment setting preferred.
Required Licensure or Certification
- Licensed in addiction counseling, counseling, social work.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
- Requires that an individual be able to work under periods of high stress and in a consistently fast-paced environment.
- Stretching, bending, lifting, extensive walking throughout hospital grounds and/or buildings, repetitive hand motion, sitting, standing and spending considerable amount of time sitting at a desk or computer terminal.
