What You’ll Do
As a Radiology Multi-Modality Tech, you will report to the Manager. You will perform Radiology procedures and examinations according to physician's orders, department policies, and procedures. You will assume responsibility for schedule management and patient flow. You will explain the steps of the imaging procedure to the patient.
Radiology Multi-Modality Tech Job Responsibilities:
Procedures & Examinations
- Performs radiology procedures per physician orders and department policies
- Evaluates radiographs for technical quality and accurate diagnosis
- Uses proper positioning techniques, including for trauma or immobile patients
- Consults physicians for correct imaging levels
- Optimizes image quality while minimizing radiation exposure
- Prepares and maintains sterile field per AORN standards
- Preps patients using proper sterile techniques
- Turns over procedure rooms efficiently using approved cleaning methods
Image Management & Documentation
- Collects and documents accurate patient histories
- Ensures correct exam charges (credit, cancel, revise, add)
- Enters procedural data into RIS in a timely manner
- Maintains accurate image filing in PACS
- Communicates and resolves PACS image/file issues
- Accurately inputs patient data into C-arm
- Prints images for chart and patient copies
Equipment & Room Responsibilities
- Operates diagnostic imaging equipment effectively
- Identifies and troubleshoots equipment issues
- Communicates repair needs promptly
- Maintains clean and sanitary exam rooms
Safety & Compliance
- Follows radiation safety regulations
- Wears and submits radiation badge as required
- Uses proper PPE, universal precautions, and ergonomic techniques
Administrative & Miscellaneous
- Assists with training/orientation of staff and students
- Accurately tracks timekeeping and scheduling requirements
- Uses email for communication appropriately
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Organizational Responsibilities
- Participates in department meetings and stays informed
- Completes required education, competencies, and health requirements on time
- Maintains required licenses and certifications (e.g., BCLS/CPR)
- Adheres to policies, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards
- Available for overtime or schedule changes as needed
What You Bring
As a Radiology Multi-Modality Tech, you must possess excellent imaging skills, including proficiency in positioning, technique, film critique, and adherence to department protocols. You should have strong computer knowledge of all systems used within the two modalities in which they work, along with familiarity with the corresponding imaging equipment. Additionally, a comprehensive understanding of a functioning Radiology Department is required. You must also be well-versed in radiation protection, consistently applying methods to safeguard patients, themselves, and other staff members.
Required Qualifications
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an associate degree or Professional Training.
- Licensure and/or advanced certification in 2 imaging modalities preferred. (1) It is preferred that the associate be registered in the two modalities in which they are working. (2) There must be a need for employment in the two modalities. (3) The employee must work regularly scheduled hours in the two modalities
- ARRT or ARRT eligible, State license and CPR certified required.
- A minimum of one to two years of job-related experience is required.
