Purpose:

Under the direction of the Director of People Operations, the People Operations Business Partner (POBP) supports the entire T&W people operations function. The POBP will support the alignment of business objectives with people operation goals to drive employee programs and engagement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to onboarding, employee relations, administrative responsibilities, legal compliance, people development, benefit administration, leave of absence coordination, training, and performance management. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, who exercises good judgment, takes ownership of site activities, and who is authentic and instills trust in others.

Responsibilities:

  • Works alongside and provides support to all management on employee relations issues including coaching managers on how to write reviews and provide constructive feedback, advisement of employee leave and accommodation requests, and other employee relation issues that may occur.
  • Partners with managers on employee terminations, grievances, and other performance or policy concerns, working closely with the Director of People Operations.
  • Coach and counsel employees and managers through mediation and conflict resolution.
  • Administer annual performance review process by providing communication to management/employees and driving the project to completion.
  • Coordinate, communicate, and assist in annual open enrollment process.
  • Provide support to employees for any leave of absence/FMLA requests by ensuring appropriate paperwork and answering any questions.
  • Maintain HRIS Database by data entry new hires/contractors (outside of e-onboarding), update data, and create reports, as needed.
  • Reviews and submits all invoices to finance for payment.
  • Generate department reports, activity updates and metrics for management team.
  • Ensure legal compliance is maintained with all applicable laws in relation to Affirmative Action, E-Verify, Veterans & Disability, FLSA / Wage & Hour, Worker’s Compensation and FMLA, including posting of required documents.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the company Affirmative Action program, prepare necessary EEO, VETS and other legally required government reports.
  • Provide input in the development of employee policies and procedures and other employee manuals.
  • Conduct activities in manner which will enable the company to accomplish its objectives through an efficient work force with good morale.
  • Actively engage with employees and managers where appropriate, serving as a credible and capable People Operations resource.
  • Partner and participate with People Operations team on the delivery of key initiatives.
  • Conduct exit interviews and compile associated data; identify trends and suggest potential mitigations.
  • Maintain a positive work environment and corporate culture by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, both internal and external.
  • Perform other similar related tasks as assigned to support the People Operations team and Comtech facilities.
  • Assists with on-site interviews, including greeting candidates, answering questions and providing tours (if applicable).

  • Works well autonomously and as part of a group, demonstrating ownership of people, culture and activities of People Operations’ facilities.
  • A minimum of three to five years in the human resources field which three years were in a Generalist/Business Partner role.
  • Required to work onsite a minimum of three days a week.
  • Flexibility of hours to provide support on off business hours as required.
  • Experience with ADP WFN is a plus.
  • Prior experience in an engineering environment is preferred.
  • Ability to travel on occasion.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certificate is a plus

The pay range reflects the expected base salary for this position. Final compensation will be based on role, level, skills, experience, and geographic location.
