Job Description
CSS has an opening for an Industrial Hygienist (IH) to provide support to our client, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in the Seattle, WA area. The candidate should have experience and knowledge in conducting exposure monitoring and developing SOPs & other policies, implementing controls. They should also have experience assessing safety and hazards in work environments, including laboratories, and collecting pertinent data to document findings.
The role is contingent upon CSS winning the contract, please note it can take several months before we know whether this role will be filled.
The IH will be responsible for:
- monitoring employee exposure, reviewing or developing plans, SOPs, and policies, and tracking, correcting, and closing out safety inspection findings in research laboratory facilities
- developing negative exposure assessments in accordance with regulatory criteria, including recently published EPA criteria for Methylene Chloride
- developing reports that compare exposure monitoring results to regulatory and consensus standards
- recommending and designing control strategies for results that do not meet regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in Industrial Hygiene, Science or related discipline
- Experience conducting safety, health and environmental assessments
- Experience working with, and knowledge of safety, health and environmental standards and regulations
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word

- Demonstrated ability to work as a solid contributor in a team environment.
- Capable of multi-tasking and changing direction depending on work load.
