The primary function of the Estimator is to provide accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing for assigned projects, ensuring competitive, complete, and well supported proposals.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Takeoffs

1. Provide accurate quantity takeoffs for all scopes of work associated with assigned projects.
2. Develop pricing models that incorporate labor, materials, equipment, and appropriate means and methods.
3. Exercise sound judgment in evaluating vendor pricing, labor productivity, equipment needs, and transportation costs to produce complete cost estimates with appropriate profit margins.

Proposal Development

1. Prepare and manage bid proposals for all projects estimated.
2. Lead bid and scope review meetings with clients as needed.
3. Assist the Estimating Director in developing new client relationships and supporting business development efforts.

Collaboration & Handoff

1. Attend final buyout meetings for awarded projects.
2. Lead job handoff meetings from the Estimating team to the Project Management team.
3. Assist Project Managers with pricing change orders on existing contracts when needed.

Relationship Building

1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, and general contractors.
2. Support recruitment efforts for new estimators and interns.
3. Assist with onboarding and training of new team members.

Operational Support

Incorporate safety considerations into estimating means and methods.

1. Provide support to operations staff by reviewing production rates, tracking quantities, and using that information to improve current and future estimates.
