Job Summary
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services in compliance with federal, state, and local government contracting regulations. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory requirements, company policies, and contract specifications. The ideal candidate has experience in government contracting environments and a strong understanding of applicable procurement regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Manage the full procurement lifecycle, including sourcing, solicitation, evaluation, negotiation, award, and contract administration.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations such as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), agency supplements (e.g., DFARS), and company policies.
• Prepare and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Conduct cost and price analyses to support procurement decisions.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with vendors and subcontractors.
• Perform supplier due diligence, including responsibility determinations and risk assessments.
• Administer subcontracts and purchase orders to ensure performance, delivery, and compliance.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation and audit-ready files.
• Collaborate with Contracts, Finance, Program Management, Compliance, and Legal teams to support contract execution.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve performance issues.
• Support internal and external audits as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Authorized US Persons under ITAR is required for this position.
• Bachelor’s degreed in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field
• 3-5+ years of procurement experience, preferably in a government contracting environment
• Ability to multitask with high attention to detail
• Excellent time management and strong organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Work, Excel, Outlook)
• Prior firearm and defense industry experience preferred
• Prior customer service experience preferred
• ISO 9001:2015 training preferred
Physical Demands & Abilities
• Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers
• Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly
Working Conditions
• Work will be completed in an office environment and includes some treavel to trade shows.
