Responsible for assisting the physician(s) in scheduled and urgent ophthalmic procedures, providing quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

Certification strongly preferred.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provide attention to patients in a manner that builds confidence, trust and loyalty.
2. Stock and set up procedure room with instruments and supplies based on procedure and physician(s) preferences. Economically mindful in the use of supplies and equipment.
3. Essential functions include but are not limited to: History taking, Visual acuity measurement, Manual refractometry, Lensometry, Tonometry, Measure pupil size and reactivity, Test and measure eye muscle function, Visual field testing, Corneal thickness measurement, Corneal curvature measurement, Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement, Retinal thickness and topography, Fundus photography, A and B-scan ultrasonography, IOL Master, Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures, Surgical assisting including sterile preparations, BAT testing, Inventory of medical supplies, Obtains prior authorizations for medications.
4. Administer topical ophthalmic and oral medications.
5. Coordinate scheduling of patient surgeries and associated appointments. Completing all surgical paperwork.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. BLS certification.
2. High school completion or GED.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Minimum of two (2) or more years of similar experience in a health care setting.
2. Basic computer knowledge.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
