Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Failure Analysis
Location: Salem, NH
Department: Engineering / Manufacturing
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: 1 week/ quarter, Occasional local travel
Job Summary
As a Mechanical Failure Analysis Engineer at Moveras you will play a leading role in the expansion of our Quality System to include determining root cause of field failures. You will build data collections systems, design tests and lead teams to discover failure modes and implement corrective actions. You will utilize a blend of project management, hands mechanical aptitude and core engineering principles everyday. Your main focus will be to determine the failures our customers are experiencing, discover root cause and prevent them.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multifunction groups in process & product failure analysis, determine root cause and implement robust corrective actions
- Become the resident expert in automatic transmission function and the interactions of each sub system
- Conduct product tear downs, rebuild, dyno testing and vehicle test drives
- Develop and implement process changes. Create updated documentation as required
- Review customers data on trends related to product failures
- Use systemic methods to assess risk
- Design and implement data collection systems as needed
- Evaluate testing and inspection equipment for capabilities
- Improve existing dynamometer testing procedures to prevent defects escaping
- Create project plans and communicate project progress
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 4-7 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficient with Excel for data collection, chart creation, formulas and pivot charts.
- Basic understanding of automobiles and automatic transmissions
- Experience and basic understanding of computer programming
- Experience working with hand tools and basic measurement devices.
- Ability to work independently and lead within a team environment
- Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
- Conduct work in an organized manner. Maintain records and follow standards.
- Previous experience planning and leading
- Have a can do, hands on, willing to learn attitude.
