From our headquarters on the coast of Vancouver Island in Campbell River, BC, you will join a talented team to design, develop, and commercialize innovative aquaculture and cleantech technologies.

Poseidon Ocean Systems Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Designer to support the design, development, and production of innovative aquaculture technology.

This role will collaborate closely with engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders to create detailed mechanical designs and technical documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience in 3D modeling, mechanical drafting, and product development, ensuring designs meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and modify mechanical designs using SolidWorks PDM.
• Develop detailed 3D models, drawings, and assemblies based on engineering input.
• Ensure all designs adhere to company standards, client requirements, and industry regulations.
• Prepare and maintain technical drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and manufacturing documentation.
• Revise and release parts, assemblies, and drawings through SolidWorks PDM and Windchill.
• Ensure accurate documentation of design changes and version control for production teams.
• Work with engineers and production staff to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly.
• Assist in troubleshooting design and fabrication issues.
• Provide design support for prototyping, testing, and product validation.
• Identify opportunities to enhance design efficiency, reduce costs, and improve performance.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback for product development improvements.
• Stay updated on new materials, fabrication methods, and mechanical design trends.
• Support additional design, documentation, and engineering tasks as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting & Design, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, preferably in manufacturing or product development.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM.
• Strong understanding of materials, mechanical components, and design for manufacturing principles.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, technical specifications, and client requirements.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers, production teams, and clients.
• Organized, self-motivated, and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in design for marine environment is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of welding processes and design of welded connections.

Work Location

• Based out of Campbell River BC. Will consider a hybrid or remote role.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
