Position Description:

Our South Carolina Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) is a 24-bed program dedicated to providing structured, therapeutic care for adolescents. Were seeking a Director of Nursing to plan, organize, and direct all functions of the nursing department.

In this leadership role, youll ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient nursing care while guiding staff, aligning resources, and driving compliance with regulatory standards. As a key member of leadership, youll influence strategy, strengthen nursing practice, and ensure individuals served receive safe, compassionate, and effective care. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine strategic oversight with hands-on impact in shaping the future of nursing within our facility.

What Youll Do

Lead, manage, and direct nursing department operations to ensure effective care delivery. Interpret and apply facility policies, prepare presentations, and communicate with senior leadership. Solve complex clinical, technical, administrative, and staffing challenges. Oversee active treatment programming across all living areas, ensuring engagement of patients. Interview, hire, and onboard nursing staff, ensuring clinical competence and professional growth. Conduct performance reviews, manage employee relations issues, and take corrective actions when needed. Create, approve, and monitor schedules, leave requests, and overtime usage. Develop, maintain, and communicate policies, procedures, and practices aligned with TJC, state, federal, and local requirements. Manage staffing levels, structure, and operating expenses while implementing new or revised programs. Provide professional nursing care in response to workload demands or staffing shortages. What Were Looking For

Education & Training

Masters degree in nursing, healthcare, or related field (required) Experience

Five (5) years of managerial work experience (required) Forensic or mental health setting experience (preferred) Licenses/Certifications

Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment or compact license (required) At least two (2) years of post-licensure nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness or multiple disabilities (required) Why Join Us
