About This Position

The Hummingbird team in El Paso, TX is hiring a Youth Care Worker Lead for the following shift: 9:00p.m.-6:00am

CPLC manages the Hummingbird Project for unaccompanied minors in need of culturally competent whole wellness care. CPLC has 53 years of demonstrated quality experience serving the community as a high-trust organization.

POSITION SUMMARY
In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, CPLC will be providing short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian. CPLC will provide extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with intense support for their social and emotional health. We will also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare, including pediatric, dental and nutritional support for every child. 

CPLC's ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor. During the short time they are with us, they will have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • High School Diploma or equivalent degree required. Associates preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents required.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience required.
  • English/Spanish bilingual required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess and maintain a current valid Driver’s License meeting company standards of driver insurability.

Other Competencies

  • Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and MS Office products.
  • Must be able to perform emergency behavioral intervention (EBI) for clients in care when necessary.
  • Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.
  • Clean criminal background check.
  • Clean child abuse and neglect or child protective services check.
  • Ability to pass a medical examination to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily and safely care for clients if accommodations are required.
