Position Description:

PAYROLL SPECIALIST

The Payroll Specialist performs payroll, accounting, and administrative duties to support the team including processing payroll, setting up voluntary deductions, processing and auditing payroll, creating and reviewing audit reports, and resolving any issues that may arise. This position is full-time, in person.

Position Responsibilities: Responsibility #1-Payroll Department Support
Collect, compile and enter payroll data using appropriate software
Experience with Union processing and reporting preferred
Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive payroll records
Calculate garnishments which include child support, tax levies, student loans, writ of garnishments, etc.
Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records
Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions
Investigate and correct any payroll discrepancies and errors
Address employees pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information
Additional job duties as assigned.

Responsibility #2-Client Relations
Reviews and immediately responds (within 24 hours of receipt) to all cases assigned in Salesforce.
Immediately responds (within 24 hours of receipt) to all client inquiries.
Timely (by deadline) responds to all wage and tax notices and helps prepare for hearings.

Responsibility #3- Government Regulations
Follows all state and federal laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
Protects the company from liability and exposure.

Responsibility #4- Personal Development
Keeps up to date on changes to state and federal law through continuous education and publication.
Continues to learn and grow as a payroll professional through continuous education.
Share ideas that will help you and/or the company grow.

Performance Measurement: Accurate (no errors and/or complaints), timely (by deadline) and consistent with required duties. Attendance Follows all state and local laws. As well as company policies and procedures. Provides timely (by deadline), accurate (no errors and/or complaints) and complete payroll reports. Completes mandatory training. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skills and Education - High school diploma or equivalent.
Prism experience preferred.
Bilingual language (Spanish) preferred.
Effective Communication (written and verbal).
Attention to detail.
Analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
Time management.
Document/recording/filing information.
Reading and oral comprehension
Ability to effectively multi-task
Ethical conduct
Interpersonal skills
Technical capacity
Understanding of basic accounting principles
Fluent in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of federal, state and local payroll regulations and requirements
General knowledge of Internet navigation and research, email, fax transmissions, phone communication, and copy equipment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
