Dog Trainer in Spring, Texas at Doglab TX LLC
Job Description
We guarantee our results. You’re the reason we can.
Training is the heart of Dog Lab Texas. We train hunting, obedience and protection dogs for clients who expect real results, and we put a guarantee behind every program. We’re also different in one important way: we don’t just train the dog in a kennel and hand back the leash. We train in the client’s own world, in their home and their fields, under the real distractions and pressures their dog will face every day. Then we teach the owner to carry it forward. We like to say we’re people trainers, and a well-trained dog is the result. If you see training as a craft, not a hobby, this is where you belong.
What you get here
- Top-tier pay with real upside. Trainers are our highest-paid team members. You’ll start at $36–38 an hour, plus a commission structure built so strong performers can earn $100K or more.
- A product you can stand behind. You’ll carry the credibility of a guaranteed-results program across obedience, hunting and protection. Clients come to us because they know what good results look like.
- Support behind you. Our scheduling, kennel and client teams handle the logistics, so you can focus on training.
- Leaders who invest in you. Our leadership is close to the work, personally invested in its people, and serious about recognizing excellent work.
- Room to grow with us. As we expand, we’ll need senior trainers and program leaders, and we’d rather develop them from our own team.
- A community that speaks your language. We’re rooted in the hunting, sporting and working-dog world. For the right trainer, this is more than a job.
What you’ll do
- Train to our standard. Train dogs using our established methods and program standards so every client gets the same Dog Lab quality.
- Read the dog and adapt. Keep evaluating each dog’s behavior, responsiveness and progress. Adjust your techniques and change training plans when needed to reach the goal, and spot opportunities to improve along the way.
- Train the owner, too. Coach clients on handling, reinforcement and what to expect. Hold them to consistency and accountability, so that by the end of the program they can maintain the results on their own.
- Make it hold up in real life. Through field work and in-home sessions, make sure results carry over to the places the dog actually lives and works, not just to a training session.
- Bring every program across the finish line. Prepare both dog and owner for a successful completion that lasts.
- Document and communicate. Record training progress, milestones and challenges. Give the Operations Manager regular updates.
- Keep everyone safe. Keep full control of every dog at all times, and follow every safety protocol to prevent injury or escalation, which matters especially in protection work.
What success looks like
Dogs meet their defined behavior goals. Owners walk away confident and capable. Results hold up long after the program ends. Safety and control are never compromised.
Who thrives here
You have deep, practical knowledge of dog behavior. You can read a dog and know what it needs before it shows you. You’re as good at teaching people as you are at training dogs, and you can coach a nervous first-time owner and a seasoned hunter with equal confidence. You pay close attention and you analyze what you see. You stay consistent and disciplined even when cutting a corner would be easier. You communicate clearly with clients, teammates and leadership. And you measure yourself by one thing: whether the results last.
Know before you apply
We want you to come in with your eyes open:
- Much of this job happens away from a desk: in the field, at clients’ homes, and outdoors in Texas weather.
- We stand behind a guarantee, so the standard is high and results are tracked.
- You’ll train using Dog Lab’s methods. We value your experience and want your input, but every client gets the same program.
What you bring
- Proven, measurable training results in obedience, hunting and/or protection. Experience in more than one discipline is a strong plus.
- Experience coaching owners, not just training dogs
- The ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments with full control, including high-drive and working breeds
- Comfort working by established methods and program standards, while adapting intelligently to each dog
- Strong communication skills and disciplined documentation habits
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for field work and in-home visits
- A plus: formal certifications, a competition or working-dog background, or experience in protection or sport work
Working Conditions & Requirements
Primarily outdoor work with high physical activity, animal handling, and exposure to weather and uneven terrain. Will also operate within client homes.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Must have sufficient mobility to visit property sites that may feature rough terrain and to work outdoors in unfavorable weather conditions. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time with ability to reach, bend and move up/down on steps. Must be able to lift up to 50-pounds. The position requires considerable concentration, creativity and ability to manage time effectively. The position is subject to stress caused by a changing public environment, mandatory deadlines and heavy workload. Requires the ability to ask questions that will bring forth the information needed to make sound decisions.
