Salesforce Data Cloud & Agentforce Architect in Arlington, Virginia at PhoenixTeam
Job Description
PhoenixTeam is hiring a Salesforce architect to design, build, and maintain Salesforce Data Cloud (now Data 360) and Agentforce solutions for commercial customers. The work combines data ingestion, harmonization, identity resolution, and calculated insights with agent design, grounding, secure actions, and integrations.
This is a hands-on architecture role. You will make technical design decisions, work directly with the platform, and stay involved through testing, deployment, and production troubleshooting. The goal is to give agents access to the right information and control what they can do with it.
You will work with Salesforce administrators and developers, data engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders. The role owns technical architecture and implementation, not the product roadmap.
Key Functions
- Architect, implement, and maintain Data Cloud (Data 360) integrations and data flows from Salesforce and external sources, including data streams, Data Lake Objects (DLOs), Data Model Objects (DMOs), harmonization, identity resolution, and calculated insights.
- Define data quality, refresh, lineage, and access requirements. Build segmentation and activation where the business use case calls for them.
- Design, build, and deploy Agentforce agents using Agentforce Builder and Prompt Builder, with subagents (formerly topics), instructions, and actions tied to specific workflows.
- Ground agent responses in governed Data Cloud data using retrievers and suitable retrieval patterns for structured or unstructured content. Check relevance, permissions, and data freshness.
- Design and implement agent actions through Salesforce Flow, Apex, and APIs. Integrate with external systems and handle permissions, errors, and failed actions.
- Apply controls for sensitive data and agent behavior, including PII handling, approval flows for sensitive actions, human-in-the-loop escalation, and audit logging.
- Use prompt engineering and evaluate agent behavior against real-world conversation patterns, multi-turn interactions, and failure cases, not just scripted demos. Refine instructions, routing, grounding, and actions based on the results.
- Monitor routing accuracy, action success, response quality, latency, and cost. Troubleshoot production issues and adjust data or agent configurations as needed.
- Document data models, agent architecture, integration decisions, and governance controls. Mentor Salesforce administrators and developers and explain technical tradeoffs to stakeholders.
What Success Looks Like (First 6-12 Months)
- Data Cloud (Data 360) is a documented, governed production data source for Agentforce, with identity resolution and calculated insights in place.
- At least one Agentforce agent supports a live business workflow and measurably reduces manual work, response time, or another agreed operational measure.
- The team has a repeatable approach to new agent use cases, with the goal of reducing subsequent delivery cycles from months to weeks.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience architecting Salesforce platform solutions, including hands-on implementation, integrations, and production delivery.
- 1+ year of hands-on production experience with Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360), including data streams, DLO/DMO mappings, and identity resolution; strong working knowledge of calculated insights, segmentation, and activation.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying Agentforce agents, or the Einstein Copilot predecessor, including subagents/topics, instructions, actions, and grounding. Candidates must be able to explain their own implementation work.
- Experience using Salesforce Agent Builder or Agentforce Builder and Prompt Builder, including grounding agent responses in Data Cloud data through retrievers or appropriate retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) approaches.
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills; working knowledge of the Data 360 Ingestion API, Query API, and Data Actions.
- Working knowledge of Apex, Salesforce Flow, and REST/SOAP integrations used to connect Salesforce agents with other systems.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering and evaluating and tuning agent behavior against real conversations, beyond demonstrations alone.
- Experience with Salesforce data security, access controls, PII handling, and auditability; understanding of approvals for sensitive actions and human-in-the-loop escalation.
- Salesforce Certified Data 360 Consultant certification required (formerly Salesforce Certified Data Cloud Consultant).
- Ability to explain architecture choices and work effectively with business, Salesforce, data engineering, and security stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications or Skills
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect or Salesforce Certified System Architect certification. These credentials are preferred in addition to, not in place of, the required Data 360 Consultant certification.
- Experience in financial services, mortgage, or another regulated industry where data lineage, controlled access, and auditability matter.
- Experience working with data engineering teams on upstream pipelines and source-system data quality.
- Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP), agent-to-agent orchestration, or custom Agentforce actions beyond standard Flow or Apex configurations.
- Experience presenting architecture decisions to nontechnical business leaders and executives.
