Job Summary

Under the supervision of registered nurses, assist in implementing medical, behavioral and psychiatric health care of patients. Performs a variety of clerical duties to support the provision of patient care.

Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions

• Conducts activities which include, but are not limited to: walks, social events, suicidal monitoring outings.
• Records patient's activities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of vital signs, acquisitions and reporting.
• Functions as a member of the treatment team and is responsible for assigned duties such as observation rounds, suicide risk observation and assisting with behavior modification programs needed by the nursing staff.
• Maintains patient charts in the proper format, including physician orders and progress notes; files reports and test results in an accurate and timely manner; maintains awareness of patient and chart locations at all times in order to locate in necessary.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate department; practices good computer maintenance of keeping screen and keyboard free of dust and by maintaining an appropriate supply of print paper; is familiar with the steps to follow when the computers system is on downtime.
• Receives patient service and information requests and responds by initiating proper action in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Required
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Experience:

• Preferred
  • Two or more years of experience (or educational equivalence) in Mental Health, Social Services, and/or Behavioral Science

Certification/Licensure:

• Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
    • Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
  • SAFE Approach Level III Certification
    • Must obtain within six (6) months of start date
