Job Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Hickory Treatment Centers

Department: Nursing

Direct Report To: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

About the Role:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to patients experiencing acute mental health conditions in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting.

Under the immediate supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Register Nurse (RN) will be responsible for clinical assessment, care planning, medication administration, therapeutic interventions, and coordination of care within the interdisciplinary treatment teams.

Job Qualifications:

• Valid unrestricted RN license in the applicable state

• Graduated from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred

• Current BLS/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within I month of hire.

• Previous experience in psychiatric or behavioral health setting preferred

• Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

• Ability to assess and respond effectively to psychiatric and medical emergencies

• Professional appearance, aptitude, and attitude

• Impeccable ethics, integrity, and customer relations skills

• Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills

• Computer literacy and ability to use an EMR

• Sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills

• Ability to understand the requirements of the clientele.

• Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Assessment & Nursing Care

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric and medical nursing assessments upon admission and throughout hospitalization.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the treatment team.

• Monitor patients’ behavior, mental status, and physical condition.

• Promptly intervene and escalate care as clinically indicated.

• Provide therapeutic communication, patient education, and emotional support to patients and families.

Medication Administration & Treatment

• Administer medications safely and accurately, including psychotropic and emergency medications.

• Monitor patients for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.

• Support the implementation and evaluation of individualized treatment plans.

Patient Safety & Crisis Intervention

• Lead and participate in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavioral management using approved techniques.

• Ensure compliance with patient safety protocols, including suicide precautions and restraint and seclusion standards.

• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and address safety concerns promptly.

• Report safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor and/or Executive Director.

Supervision & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

• Supervise and delegate tasks to MHTs and LPNs in accordance with scope of practice and organizational policies.

• Participate in treatment team meetings, shift reports, and clinical handoffs.

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to coordinate patient care and address changing clinical needs.

Documentation, Discharge & Continuity of Care

• Maintain accurate, timely, and legally sound clinical documentation.

• Support discharge planning, continuity of care, and patient transition planning.

• Ensure appropriate communication and clinical handoff throughout the patient’s hospitalization and transition of care.

Compliance, Patient Rights & Infection Control

• Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Serve as a patient advocate while ensuring respect for patients’ rights, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.

• Perform appropriate hand hygiene throughout the shift.

• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.

Compensation:

$39 - $48 Hourly
