Summary
SENS is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Industrialization Engineer for new production configurations to bridge the gap between Design Engineering and Production for new and complex product configurations. This individual will take released engineering designs and translate them into complete, validated, production-ready configurations that can be successfully and repeatedly built by manufacturing.
This role is focused on industrializing new configurations, including developing work instructions, material pick lists, wire cut lists, and supporting initial production builds. This individual will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Planning to identify and resolve issues before configurations are released into normal production.
Responsibilities
- Own the industrialization of new and complex products (including PowerCab2) configurations from engineering release through successful production implementation.
- Review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and engineering BOMs to ensure designs are complete, manufacturable, and ready for production.
- Create, modify, and validate production work instructions that clearly define the assembly, wiring, and manufacturing process for each configuration.
- Develop and validate material pick lists and wire cut lists from engineering documentation, ensuring production receives complete and accurate build information.
- Coordinate and support first builds of new configurations; work directly with Production to identify and resolve design, documentation, material, wiring, and assembly issues.
- Provide Design Engineering with manufacturability feedback and drive resolution of issues identified during industrialization and initial production builds.
- Validate that required documentation, materials, manufacturing methods, and test requirements are complete before releasing configurations into normal production.
- Track industrialization performance through KPIs such as on-time production readiness, first-build success, documentation accuracy, engineering changes after release, and production issues attributable to configuration readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Relevant education, training, or experience in electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrialization, product engineering, or a related technical field.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and other engineering documentation.
- Experience developing manufacturing documents, such as work instructions, BOMs, material lists, wire lists, or similar production documentation.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of electrical assembly, wiring, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability principles.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work directly with production teams in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex electrical assemblies such as switchgear, switchboards, control panels, power distribution equipment, industrial controls, or similar products.
- Experience supporting engineer-to-order (ETO) or configure-to-order (CTO) products with significant variation between customer configurations.
- Experience developing wire lists, wire cut lists, cable schedules, or point-to-point wiring documentation from electrical schematics.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems for BOMs, routings, item masters, material requirements, and production orders.
- Experience supporting first builds, pilot builds, or the introduction of new product configurations into production.
