Summary

We are looking for a hands-on, self-motivated Production Support Technician to support our growing manufacturing operation. This individual will work closely with Engineering, Production, and assemblers to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues affecting the manufacturing line.

The majority of this role is focused on day-to-day, reactionary production support, requiring someone who enjoys working directly on the production floor, troubleshooting problems, repairing equipment and fixtures, and keeping manufacturing moving. The remaining time will focus on improving and maintaining production tooling, fixtures, equipment, preventive maintenance, calibrations, and operator safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily, hands-on technical support to the manufacturing floor; rapidly troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, assembly, test, and equipment issues to minimize production disruptions.
  • Troubleshoot products that fail manufacturing test or final inspection using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, load banks, and data-acquisition systems.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain production and test equipment, including test fixtures, cable harnesses, tooling, and associated test software and settings.
  • Design, build, modify, and improve production fixtures and tooling to improve manufacturability, reliability, efficiency, ergonomics, and repeatability.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production tooling and equipment; develop and maintain PM schedules with other technicians, track completion, and identify equipment requiring repair or replacement.
  • Perform required production-tool calibrations, including torque-tool calibrations, and maintain accurate calibration schedules and records.
  • Identify and implement improvements to operator electrical safety through improved fixtures, tooling, guarding, and other appropriate engineering controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (AAS/AS) in a technical field OR 4+ years of experience in a combination of technical training and hands-on experience in electronics, electromechanical systems, power electronics, or manufacturing.
  • Strong hands-on electrical and mechanical aptitude with demonstrated ability to systematically troubleshoot complex equipment, products, and their interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of electronics fundamentals and proficiency using diagnostic and measurement equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, load banks, data-acquisition systems, calipers, and similar instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills and ability to independently build, modify, repair, and maintain fixtures, tooling, cable assemblies, and production equipment.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and multitasking skills with the flexibility to respond quickly to changing production needs and work effectively with assemblers, technicians, engineers, and production leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting manufacturing of power electronics, battery chargers, battery systems, or other electrical/electromechanical products.
  • Experience developing and maintaining preventive-maintenance and calibration programs for manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Familiarity with 2D mechanical drawings, 3D models, bill of materials, ERP systems, and action-tracking tools
  • Experience improving manufacturing safety, particularly electrical safety, through fixture design, guarding, tooling, or other engineering controls.
