Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and improving manufacturing equipment with minimal supervision. This position plays a critical role in maximizing equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and supporting production through advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
Successful candidates possess strong electro-mechanical knowledge, exceptional diagnostic abilities, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical manufacturing equipment.
- Perform advanced preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
- Analyze equipment failures and determine root causes to minimize recurring issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including 480V three-phase power, motors, motor controls, drives, and electrical distribution.
- Diagnose and repair combustion systems, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, presses, cranes, and automated production equipment.
- Perform fabrication, welding, cutting, and torch work necessary to complete repairs.
- Install, align, and commission new equipment and production machinery.
- Work with maintenance planning systems to document repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns while maintaining safe work practices.
- Mentor and assist less experienced maintenance technicians when needed.
- Support plant improvement projects and equipment upgrades.

Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills involving mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Motors and motor controls
- Preventive and Predictive Maintenance
- Experience troubleshooting 480V three-phase electrical systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic prints, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience performing welding and fabrication repairs.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools and maintenance hand tools.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred
- Associate's Degree or Technical Diploma in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Industrial Mechanics, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical field.
- Experience maintaining overhead cranes, forging equipment, furnaces, compressors, and large industrial machiner
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 65 pounds.
- Climb ladders and work in elevated areas.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
- Work around heat, noise, moving equipment, overhead cranes, and heavy machinery.
Pre-employment Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete:
- Hair Follicle Drug Screen
- Pre-employment physical/lift evaluation
- Maintenance Assessment Testing
