About the Role:

The Sterile Processing Technician – PRN Days at Morgan Medical Center plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical instruments used in patient care. This position is responsible for the meticulous cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment to meet stringent healthcare standards. The technician supports various clinical departments by providing sterile supplies promptly and efficiently, thereby directly contributing to positive patient outcomes. Working on a PRN basis, the role requires flexibility and adaptability to meet fluctuating demands while maintaining high-quality standards. Ultimately, this position safeguards patient health by preventing infections through rigorous adherence to sterilization protocols and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment following established protocols.
  • Inspect instruments and equipment for functionality and cleanliness, ensuring all items meet quality and safety standards before use.
  • Assemble sterile trays and packages according to surgical and procedural specifications, maintaining accurate documentation of sterilization cycles.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners, performing routine checks and reporting malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and respond promptly to urgent requests during surgical procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control policies, safety regulations, and compliance standards set by healthcare authorities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to support efficient workflow and minimize contamination risks.

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:

- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification preferred

- Proven experience in venipuncture and capillary blood collection

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work independently and adapt to a flexible schedule

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- Knowledge of safety and infection control procedures

- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
