Staff Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Accountant based in the United States.

This role provides an opportunity to support financial accuracy and operational excellence within a mission-driven organization.
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining reliable accounting processes, supporting reporting activities, and partnering with internal teams.
Working closely with accounting and payroll functions, this position ensures timely recording, reconciliation, and analysis of financial information.
The role combines hands-on accounting expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaboration across multiple business areas.

Accountabilities:
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders by providing accounting and financial oversight that supports the financial health of assigned portfolios, entities, and business operations.
  • Perform daily accounting activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, transaction reviews, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Maintain monthly workpaper reconciliations by identifying, researching, and resolving discrepancies and unusual transactions.
  • Review expenses, recommend adjustments, and prepare accurate journal entries to support financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Support month-end close activities while meeting established reporting timelines and accounting standards.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations, maintain financial documentation, and review monthly account activity.
  • Develop monthly reporting packages and performance summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare weekly cash requirement reports and record banking activities, including fees and account adjustments.
  • Support annual audit processes by preparing financial statements, audit schedules, supporting documentation, and requested workpapers.
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, investigate variances, and provide recommendations to improve business performance.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities by developing financial models and providing accounting insights.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance accounting processes, workflows, and reporting practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, complete analyses, and resolve financial issues proactively.
  • Participate in special projects and additional initiatives as needed while maintaining strong communication with operational teams.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience preferred.
  • Experience in property management, residential development, senior living, public accounting, or similar industries is preferred.
  • CPA certification, MBA, or equivalent professional credentials are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger processes.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting software applications.
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager or similar accounting platforms is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, solve problems, and make recommendations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting teams and business partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to stakeholders at different levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and business information.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced professional environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
